Scott SCOTT The Savannah Chapter of the Savannah State College National Alumni Association presented its annual “Oet-Acouainted Day” and “This is Your Life” program Sun¬ day, April 24, in Meldrim Audi¬ torium, Savannah State College. The purpose of the program was to acquaint the senior class and the student bodv of the College with the Alumni Association and its workings. The program featured an organ prelude—E. J. Josev; Hymn, Audi¬ ence; invocation, Rev. Edgar P. Quarterman; solo, Wilson Hubert; presentation of certificates to “Tepchers of the Year”. Mrs Sadie Cartledge; “This Is Your Life,” iss Rubye King, narrator: pre- Htation of Historv and Plaque •Limes I,uten; the Savannah State College Hymn; remarks, Dr. W. K. Payne; and an organ postlude, E. J. Josev. Miss Larcena Cohen, Mrs. Cassie Densler, Miss Carolyn Kirkland, Miss Emma Jordan, and Miss Katie Williams served as ushers and hostesses. Mrs. Ruth Davis, Mrs. Willie Mae Sampson, Mrs. Prince Jack- son, Mrs. Dorothv Fuller, Mrs. Louise Owens and Prince Jackson. Jr., were in charge of the social hour. The planning committee consisted of Mrs. Ruth B. Mullino, chairman, Norman B. Elmore, eo- chairman, Mrs. Elsie Brewton, Mrs. Dorothv Fuller, Prince son, Mrs. Rutha Davis. John Me- Clockton, Mrs. Cassie Densler, Miss Larcena Cohen and Miss Rubye King. Mrs. Lqrese Davis, dean of women, Savannah State College announces that the fifteenth an¬ nual Charm Week festivities will he held on the campus May 8 through 1.3. All activities this year | will be centered around the theme, ! “Charm a many-faceted Jewel.” Kappas To Meet May 6—7 The Southeastern Province Council of the Kappa Alnha Psi Fraternity will meet in Spartan¬ burg, South Carolina, May 6-7, Joseph R. Jenkins Polemarch, pre¬ siding. The Spartanburg Alumni chap¬ ter of which Harry C. Gardin is Polemarch will serve as host for the Ninth Province Council, which is composed of twenty two alumni and undergraduate chapters in Ceorgia and South Carolina. jyiumni chapters are: Savannah, Atlanta, Augusta, Albany, Fort*! Terrell, director, department of home economics, Savannah State College a Family Life Education Travel Tour will be a part of the 1060 Savannah State College Sum¬ mer School course offerings. The Family Life Education Tcur to the Caribbeans is open to r len and women and any students who qualify for tour mmebership. It is a one-month study travel tour to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Dom¬ inican Republic, Haiti, and Jama¬ ica for the purpose of observing the present patterns of family life and structure, and to become ac¬ quainted with the economic, social and cultural development of fami¬ lies as a result to an intensive tech¬ nical advisory ' service program from 1952 to 1958. Persons taking the course will be credited with 10 quarter hours. The course may be used for re¬ newal of 5-year teacher certifi¬ cates. Expenses for the tour in¬ clude the following: a. Matricula¬ tion fee of $30 payable by regis¬ tration through mail on or before May 5, I960, to Savannah State College; b. Cash Plan for tour. $400, payable at registration on or before May 5, 1960, to Savannah State College; or c. Go now and Day later plan, $50. in cash at reg¬ istration, payable on or before May 5, 1960, to Savannah State College. Balance in 12-18 convenient month¬ ly installments. Seminars and lectures will be of¬ fered by the Department of Edu¬ cation in Charlotte Amalie, The University of Puerto Rieo will sponsor the lectures and educa¬ tional tours in San Juan and the Ministry of Education and Depart¬ ment of Social Welfare will joint¬ ly share in the direction of tour personnel in Jamacia.
