While there she will be a guest of Hotel Statler- Hilton. Upon her return she will immediately leave for San- dersville, Ga., where she will serve as a member of the Vis¬ iting Committee to review the •ark at T. J. CARRIE KING HERRON died Wednesday, April 27 in Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Herron was a former caseworker for the Family Services of Savannah, Inc. She was a native of Co¬ lumbus, Ga., but moved to Cal¬ ifornia four years ago. Jonquil Garden Club The April meeting of the Jon¬ quil Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs. Carmen Singfield, 740 East Waldburg Street. Mrs. Mary Matthews, delegate to the state convention of Garden Clubs, held in Macon April 10, gave a report of the events of the convention. Others representing the club at the meeting were Mrs. Evenell Tei-rell, president; Mrs. Margaret Priester, Mrs. Janie Bowers, Mrs. Marie Watts, Mrs. Esther Warrick, and two Junior Jonquil Club members, Andrea Anderson and Sheila Mobley. The president announced that the Jonquil Garden Club will be host to the next State Convention of Garden Clubs to be held in April, 1961. Members'in charge of the suc¬ cessful television program spon¬ sored by the club on March 29 were Mrs. Bowers and Mrs. Pries¬ ter. Members of the Junior Jon- quil Garden Clubs who partici- pated on this program were from the following schools: DeRenne, Sol C. Johnson, Spencer and Paulsen Elementary. The club is sponsoring work- i ^hops in several elementary hools. Choice Social Club The Choice Social club met at the home of Mrs. A. Shu¬ ler. After the business ses¬ sion. the hostess entertained with games and refreshments. All members were present. The meetihg was a part of the ob¬ servance of “YWCA Week.” Y-Teen Mildred Harris Was pi¬ anist and the invocation was given by the Rev. P. A. Patterson. Fol¬ lowing greetings from Mrs. Mil¬ dred Newton, program director, YWCA Center, the Y-Teens from Cuyler Elementary School, ad¬ vised by Mrs. Retha Delaware, sang “Our Song.” The speaker, Mrs. Sujette F. Crank, executive director Phyllis Wheatley Branch, YWCA, Atlan¬ was introduced by Mrs. New¬ Mrs. Crank, superbly trained for her work, gave an enlighten¬ ing address on the overall pro¬ gram of the YWCA and revealed the many efforts in which the YWCA has pioneered.
