ramification of our fight
freedom has been affected
the historic 1954 decision.
Following Rev. Reddick’s ad-
dress. Rev. Patterson said
some of the events that have
h a p p e n e d here in
v.innah are worse
some of the things that have
happened in South Africa, and
I want the world to know about
the inhumane treatment of our
people.
’ He invited Mrs. Adele Lon-
non to relate an incident that
perfectly illustrates this point.
On' April 23, she was returning
home from work about 6 p. m.
She passed Livingston’s drug
store and saw four policemen
who had four little Negro girls
In their custody. Mrs. Lonnon
asked the children what had

particular, used .abusive lan¬
guage and arrested her and re¬
leased the children. Mrs. Lon¬
non said that she is a mother
of two children .and has a tre¬
mendous amount of race pride,
and asserted that she would
be arrested aga’n if she witness¬
ed injustice directed atrainst
children. She was fined $25.00
for disorderly conduct and re¬
sisting arrest only because she
was interested in the welfare

Grover Thornton related an
incident, in which he was abus¬
ed by the police. He was aP
prehended by the police be¬
cause he was walking on
Broughton street with a camera
during the days of picketing.
However, he insisted on his
rights as a citizen and was not
arrested.
