THE GREATEST OBJECT in
the universe, says a certain
philosopher, is a good man
struggling with adversity; yet
there is a still greater, which
is the good man that comes
to relieve it.—Oliver Goldsmith.

Eartha Kitt, White
Realtor to Wed
LOS ANGELES (ANP) — “My
little sun-tanned daughter',”
With that remark Mrs; Nora
McDonald, mother of white real
estate investor William McDonald,
warmly welcomed singer Eartha
Kitt into the family after her son
informed her he planned to marry
the famous Negro entertainer.
The mother’s reaction to her
fiance’s announcement was dis¬
closed by Miss Kitt herself, who
said she was lucky “to have Bill’s
family.” Instead of showing con¬
sternation, or indignation, as is
the usual case of white parents
confronted with such a situation,
Mrs. McDonald was friendly and
warm, Eartha said.
“When Bill first told his parents
we were getting married,” Eartha
said, “his mother kissed me and
said:
‘My little sun-tanned daugh¬
ter.’ ,.

dancer, and McDonald were all
smiles as they appeared at the
marriage bureau. Both 30, they
met three years ago.
WANTS FAMILY
Miss Kitt, who is currently
pearing in a show at Les Vegas,
said forthrightly that she wants
to raise a family. “I want a boy
and a girl,” she explained.
Asked about the racial problem
bound up with their impending
marriage, she said:
“It’s a problem you have to live
with. Some people aren't going to
like the idea of a Negro marrying
a white. But. the world I live in is
