The directors, on August 1$, vot¬ ed to omit payment of any divi¬ dend for the third quarter ending September 30. In explaining the vote, they cited a 5.9 per cent de¬ cline in sales receipts and a drop in earning:. During the first half of the year sales went down nearly $4,000,000. In announcing the financial sta¬ tu of the company, the directors acknowledged that “a program of progressively integrating the com¬ pany’s lunch-counter facilities in southern states” was a factor in the loss of business. Previously, the company had cut its dividend rate from 50 to 25 cents.
