Youth Shot; Victim )
Of Mistaken Identity j
ATLANTA, (ANP) — Police
aid a teenage youth who appar¬
ently looked like someone else at
a distance was shot in the arm
last week by another man who
later reportedly apologized for the
mistaken identity shooting.
The victim had on a red shirt
at the time of the shooting, and
the uncaptured perpetrator was
actually after another youth who
also wore a led shirt when last
-eon by the wanted man, police
said.
Victim of the shooting incident
was identified by police as Curtis
Bark, dale, lit. He was treated
and dismissed at Grady Hospital
immediately after the shooting.
But, according to investigating
homicide detective C. J. Perry, the
bullet is . till lodged in Barksdale’s
arm, and lie i., to report back to
the hospital for further treatment.
Uniformed Patrolmen H. H.
Hooks and K. B. Hendricks said
the victim told them he was walk¬
ing on the street when he sudden¬
ly heard two ehots ring out and

| by one of the bullets.
I Hendricks and Hooks said the
assailant’s identity is known, but
they were unable to capture him
immediately.
Hooks and Hendrick* said they
went to the home of the wanted
man’s woman acquaintance and
obtained a paitial explanation for
the shooting.
The patrolmen said the- woman
told them that the wanted man had
j earlier fought with a llt year-old
youth. The wanted man left the
scene, hut returned later wielding
a pistol, police aid, hut the youth
who fought had also left the scene.
The wanted man then took to
the streets in search of his oppo¬
nent, saw Barksdale walking along
