unfavorable atato of affairs in that State.
Tho Legislature, which met last Monday,
has sorno difficult work before it, the wm-.-L
of which is probably the revocation ol the
State ordinances, which woro in a shock
ing condition. The debt of the common
wealth i* large, but, though many of them

of repudiation, it is thought that .Mississip

try it again, except so far ns regard* that
portion of her indebtedness contract'd to
assist the rebellion. Another knotty ques
tion with which tho members will have to
deal, is that relating to tho admission of
negro testimony in courts. A majority of
them are said to be in favor of it.

to tho Fenian movement. The Fenian
organisation hos been known to exist
there for yoars, but has occasioned but lit

events, owing to which it has transpired.
England, Ireland, and tlio Canadian Gov
ernment have, it is said, organized and
distributed throughout the province n
foreo of spies. Great activity is reported
to prevail in military affairs; changes in
the disposition of troops ure being made;
garrisons are strengthened in regions
where tho Irish predominate, to investi
gate the loyalty of officers and soldiers;
arms are being distribused for tho u.-e ol
citizens who are known to oppose the Fe

Perkins have left f«*r Cordova and the re

Greeley ha* give# entae sensible hints to
young men, which are particularly appli

discovery, he said, there was work to do,

results will he three times increased, and
that tho world will bo covered with a
