As soon as tho line of works were cap
tured, the men from all the brigades
which had been forced to retire were hur

The act of-hist February, which made an
annual allowance of three hundred dol

was extended to only four. Two of these
died since the appropriation, william

one hundred and ono yeurs, and Samuel
Cook, of Clarendon, Now York, aged
ninety-nino yours, are the only persons

merit, who participated in tho historic
struggle which achieved our National In

The Secretary of thn Navy recommends
the removal of the Naval Academy from
Arirmuolis to some eligible situation on
tho Chesapeake Bay. The present aca
demic grounds include only twenty-one

Secretary Wells state* that tho number
of vessels, nearly all British, captured and

Union army were killed, wounded or
