Sergeant Busfus, Again. The Atlauta (>(institution again comes out in more of its would-be superior ac quired information regarding a paragraph we made in reforeuce to tho aotiou of the Trustees of Morcor University on tho unification of colleges iu Georgia. We received our information from a Trustee, a leading diviuo, who attended the meet ing at Atlauta, and lias been a member of the Board for some eighteen or nineteen years. Iu regard to the action of Emory College, our paragraph was penned on tho information of a loading Methodist divine, who attended tho meeting of tho TruHtcos of that institution. The report of thoxo gentlemen satisfies us that, de spite the Constitution's Assertions, our parAgruph was correct, and tho newspaper eritie wrong, os when he took us to disk about the Ntatemoui wo made concerning the Toombs-Brown Atheim reconciliation, •called. Cotton <n Muscogee County. Tho boll worms, whoso appearance was reported some weeks ago, have done and are doing no damage of iuiportunoc, and sooin to have almost disappeared. Cater- pil urs have creuted little harm. The gouernl representation is that tho crop is bettor than last year. While Muscogoe has some of the poorest lands that ever wero invented, she has a good deal of the very richest. Tho goueral average pro duction throughout Georgia is estimated At a bale to threo acres in average good seasons. The Tax iloceivor reports lit,- 704 acres in cotton in this county, so tho yield ought to be, if the estimates are correct, 4,508 bales, which is a good deal morn than was marketed last year. Our wagon recoipts, the season just past, were 1,947 less than the year before. mania which pervaded over the South last year, the merchant* have passed through that fire and the panic badly scorched, but not mortally hurt. A brisk fall trade is ex pected. COTTON III this section is backward, and hus suf fered some from tho droiigth, but the crop, as seen from the railroads, appear* good. Plenty of grain and provisions, hay and provender. Griffin deserves tho name of LIGHTNING ROD CITY. Wo do not ovor remember of having aeon ao many. Some little houses have two on them. Lively lightning would knock them down by the score. The boring agents who trot around the country with thoir Inng-talod wagons must have reaped a rich harvest in thia delightful place. They have made it dangerous, for the idea is to get all the electric fluid centered there. BUILDINGS AND CHURCHES. As n rule the town is well built. Hill streot bos an abundance of handsome brick storos, and good stone pavements. The churches are built of brick. Tho Baptist is au elegant structure, ltev. Dr. J. II. DeVotic, who for sixteen years had charge of the Colnmhus Baptist Church, is its pastor. The church has tho beat choir we have ever heard in Georgia. As in Columbus, Dr. DeVotic lias had tho grounds greatly improved by planting trees and clover. In tho spring tho latter was allowed to grow until it wa* a foot lrgh. The sight wus very pretty.* NEWSPAPERS. Several are fouuil in the city. The bright and spurkling Newt, a daily, hnads the list. It is simdl, Imt neat, nobby and newsy. We noticed in u dagtmrrenn gallery n group composed of its editors, foremun, printers and devils—good look ing set they were too. STONEWALL <5KMLTKRY. This beautiful place is consecrated by tho ladieH to the Confederate dead, sev eral hundred of whom arc buried there. “God's acre” in indeed a lovely spot. Wo man’s bauds have inndo it bright sud charming. Each member of the Me rial Association has a certain section to care for, and ns each vies to excel, yet following a guuoral p’au, tho suriounding' lire very attractive. Columbus and larger cities can learn a lesson in thiH regard. A handsome monument, with appropriate symbols, has been erected in tho Centro— no wooden well-house, such ns is found in Ooliitubns— and each gr.»vo is marked by a miirhlo bond-hoard. The word “Un known,’’ occasionally mot, brcathcjvn sad atory.
