Since tho arrangements between the Kellogg and MeEnery governments have been announced, it was believed that things would he quiet, at least till nfte the election, but there is now greater agitation than ever, and on n different subject—that subject being tho next drawing of the Public Library of Ken tucky, at the Concert of Nov. 110. Every body iu Louisiana wants a ticket and n chance at the magnificent prizes, and the rush and excitement exceeds anything that has ever occurred in tho State. Judge on the negro ticket, was a Deputy U. S. Marshal at his precinct, and his nephew, Walter, another. The former consented to the opening of the hallot- box to take oat an alleged Georgia ne gro’s ballot. If this doe* not vitiate the vote at that point, the fact that Walker unlocked and went into the box twice during the election, and several times while the vote was being counted, cer tainly will. Ho had no Tight whatever with any key or control of the box. He wr.s only (.topped in his illegal interfor once by a “square out cussiu" from one of the mauageis. At Seale a vast number of illegal votes were cost. Hundreds who Lad never reg istered bore down on the handful of white and colored Democrats like a great black wave. After dark an alarm of fire was raised, and while the startled citizens rushed to what seemed to he the point of dauger, more than ono Radical moved just as rapidly to the polls. This looks like des ; gn. Tho counting of the voto had only reached about a hundred, when it was postponed until yesterday. A negro supervisor, Dick Woolfolk, toasted that he slept with the box in his arms. With such a custodian the purity of tho ballot is unquestioned and fraud impossi ble! O’Neal, tho candidate for Probate Judge on the Radical ticket, had n brother as supervisor at one precinct, and ho and another white man on tho same platform were active in their efforts to advance tho negroes, risking the salvation of their State for insignificant pi ivatu gain. We are told that men, with white ski appealed to tho Federal Lieutenant at Seale for the presence of his soldiers at tho polls, saying tho election was not going fairly. The officer, to his credit rop) ed thut it was his business to keej: order, and tho managers’ to control tho election. When these white men hav read the election news of yesterday' and this morning, they will begin to think they have sold out cheuply. Tho voting of Georgia negroes at Girard nnd other points by the Radicals, and numerous other frauds, are simply appall ing, and demand tho closest scrutiny. Wo believe, at the present writing, thut wo have carried Russell county, in the teeth of their frauds; hut if a different result is shown upon the first count rightoous sifting of the bullets will give the county into the hands of its tax payers. Chambers and Jones will repre sent old Russell in Alabama's next Legis lature, instead of two ignorant negroes, despite the efforts of their white laborers. —No Mayor’s Court yesterday. — rhe Julia 8t. Clair left yesterday for the lower river. —Bagging is being laid in the corridor floor of the Court House. Jewelers are getting out garters which cost $500 a pair. —The weather grows warmer, and the ground is as dry as a chip In mid-summer. — The youth who cried “Excelsior!" did not know that he was naming five out of six saloons In the country. —The remains of Mr. Oliver D«nforth ere buried in oar cemetery yesterday, ive of his children rest there. — “A moste t upprohium fidget jus out rage,” is what an educated colored gen tleman styles the election in Georgia. Every route to Colambus shows an increase of co*ton receipts to Columbus, except the North «fc Sooth Railroad, which \ a little behind. — It was a noted fact that many uegrof» ho voted at Girard Tuesdny had with them sacks to get their share of over- ed bacon. -It is said that the members who are very prompt in paying bets which have been lost on horse races, get very mud if they are pushed for pew rent. “Win, Van Fleet, of Stockton, Califor nia, reports a thousand ducks in one sea- frorn the eggs laid by twelve ducks, and it was not a big season either. —The only street talk is about the elections. The Democrats are jubilant over the unexpected victories. Many a bumper was drank because of the defeat of Beast Butler. — Ketchuru, colured, when here, was very fond of speaking of B. F. Butler as his friend. lie is now in Washington, we hear, and will find that his friend is not so powerful as he imagined. —I am afraid you will come to want, remarked an elderly lady of Columbus to a young man of the hauio city. “I have come to it already,” was his reply. “I want your daughter.” A rnarriuge is to reward his impudence. —Conductor Jeter’s passenger train was delayed yesterday morning by tho run ning off of the Albany freight, twelve miles from Macon. Four cottou cars wore broken up. The passenger train, how ever, made connection with the Western truiu At this point. —The George Hooper Combination, which lately played in our Opera House, collapsed in Louisville on tho 15th ult. They played ono night. The next fresh people were put at the box and door.
