CRANE, till NEW CONVERT SARCASTIC AND ZEALOUS. ) Editors Constitution: As frequent ef forts have been made in tho newspapers supporting the candidate of the Radical ly in tho Seventh Congressional Dis- to drug my namo into tho canvass, as I see that Dr. Felton has been ited over Col. Dabney, one of tho pur- aud best men of Georgia, who was tho ;nlnrly nominated standard bearer of Democratic parly, I ask space in your [per for a short comment. [Aguiust Dr. Folton, as a gentleman, I .ye no remarks to make. It cannot be ied, however, that he was olected by nlmost solid veto of the Radical party, diuling tho united negro vote of his istriot., with tho help of a wing of the morratic party that refused to stand its organization and support its uoini- e, iu tho person of either Col. Tram- ell or Col. Dabney. I make no assault on motives, bnt I pre- ict that the Democratic party has not ion 1 ho last of the trouble that will grow oat of this disorganization, as the success of the combination between the Demo crats who bolted the nomination and tho Radicals will lead to other like experi ment-', about which there rosy have been in advance a capital understanding be tween the contracting parties. I see in a newspaper of this city, whioh supported the candidate of the Radical party of the seventh district, that there is great rejoicing iu Cartersville over the result, and that there is to be a grand torchlight procession thore to-night; and that I am requested to furnish a ear to bring the pine down from Dalton to lie used in the procession. Thanking tho component who makes the request, and the editor who publishes it for the kind Invitation, I have to remark that, fore seeing the general results, I had provided an excellent car loud of torch pino for tho use of tho Democracy last night, • on tho occasion of tho brilliant -»procession which camo off in this citv. Dart of it was left, and as tho Radicals have triumphed iu but a single district in Goorgia. I feel that they are entitlod to bo jubilant and celebrate their victory, by a torchlight procession. And, as the I Democrats will not need it, I most cor dially tender to tho Radicals of the aev ©nth district the torch pine that was left by the Democracy lr.st night; to be used in the celebration of their victory; reserv ing only a stick or two, which a Radical friend begs me to allow him to use in tho celebration of tho great radical victories iu Washington Territory and Florida. Respectfully, Joseth E. Brown. —They nro utilizing straw in the Han Joaquin Valley, California, by using it as fuel in boiuo of the s’enni flour mills. The proprietors estimate that they can save fifty per cent, in the cost of fuol by the burning of wheat straw. The Tara- diso Hour mills, on tho Toulumno river, being situated virtually in the centre of a two hundred thonsaud acre wheat field, it is found both convenient and economical to burn straw instead of wood, and ac pordingly no other fuel is used.
