Asforatox' plered, it lioo in the Oonoolideted .Vir ginia, Californio and Opbir eloiiai. In all three of tbete minao hare boon devel oped uttrvelouoly rich bodiee—wonderful maaoea of onlphuret and obloride ores. We bore mid “bodiee,” but then to in reality but one body—one imtnonoe bon' onzo, okimnty, or whaterer elm we may chooee to call it—one huge 111 AM of ore eitending ell the way from tbe Oonaoli- d*ted Virginia Ihrongh the California into the Opbir, and no ona knows how maoh farther; nor does any one know how ninch of its height or width, and nothing at all of its depth. As to its length, we know something definite—namely, that it exteoda 400 feet through the Oon jolt dated Virginia, and undoubtedly traverses the entire length (liuo feet) of the California, as it has bean discovered in the Opbir mine, which adjoins the California on tbe north. How for it extends into tbe Ophir ground time and the honest miner can ( only determine. It igeonoeded, however, that the ore body cannot be lam than 1,200 feat in length. THX OBEAT FISSUAB in whieli this bnge bonanza of ore reets, appears to have expanded at this portion Itr point in tbe course of the vain, in or dor to form for it a cradle anited to its giant proportions. Measuring aoroas from the true “west conatry” rook lo the trne “east country” rock, the dlatanca ia from 1,000 to 1,200 feet. The spaoe be tween the east and west oonoliy rooks is the fissure in Whioh lias the body of ths ora, which, of late, has ao startled and be wildered alt the “experts” and tbe whole “mining world” of the Pacifio oooot. The great fissure is filled with, what oar mining men call “vein nutter”—gangne—a mix- tnte of quartz, olay and porpby. Here, in the midst of this vain matter or gaagae, whioh Alia the vast fissnre from aide to side, haa formed end ia now found the hnge m.ae of ore whioh runs through the three mines mentioned above. To pro duce a body of aueh great aiae, and im mense bed of vein matter wea reqairad— you cannot rear a whale in a trout-brook. For several months the Consolidated Vir ginia Oompauy have been at work in the crest of THU SUBTA SEAN AAA AILTAA MOUATAXK, and the Opbir oompeny have been gouging into it for a shorter period of time, while the California folks have bat jaet began to feel their way into ile western slope at two or three points. Never, nntU lately, have the Consolidated Virginia Oompeny seemed to get feiriy into the ridge of the mountain—to penetrate a point where they eonld begin to see what they were working upon, although in their upper lereee they have opooM groat breadths of wonderfnlly rich ore. rxs sterna* nnau maoovwax m ns- TOAT. There can be no donbt that the body of or. now jnat being opened in the three mines nuder conaideralion ia undoubtedly the largest and rioheat the world aver saw. In the California the width will doubtless prove to be immense; just bow wide it may be found, no ona eon say, and the experts themselves fear to risk sa opin ion. but they hint at all tbs way from 200 to 400 feat. The length, aa we oil know, is GOO test. From the derelopments now being made at each end of the mine, we up here, ere beginning to fear that some where near the centre it will be found lo be bat a solid mountain mass of pore ail- |var. Tax BOSS OF IT ALL. [Sab Franeiaoo Chronicle.] A ChronicU reporter called upon Mr. Bharob last aveaing. In reply to a lead ing question, Mr. Sharon said: “Of coarse it is not possible for any one to look into tbe boaels of the earth, and consequently I can't pretend to exaetnem; the beat jndgra, how ever, e,y that its value la fab ulous. Superintendent Beqno, of tbs Chollsr, and Superintendent Smith, of tbe Heleher, set down tbe heoansa at doa ble tbe size of that found In ths Crown Point and Beloher nod three times aa rich.” Reporter—Hats yon any notion what ths lead will pan oat f Mv. Sbsroa—Judges pleas the grom at *300,000,000, and the profits at from *150,000,000 to *200,000,000. In geuarsl conversation, Mr. Sharon said that be considered the discovery the taori- important event in the history of tbs ooaat. “Its influence upon tbe com mercial interests of the State,” he ob served, “will be of notold vales. The minee are owned in San Franoisoo, and an amount of capital equal to the present AM.sa.d valua of the whole oity, will be brought here. Such wealth most bring immigration, and stimulate every depart ment of trade.” —The name of his majesty of the Sandwitch Islands ia not prononnosd King Calico, as some people suppose. The right pronunciation ia Kaia-kow-ah. For Rent. O FFICES AND SLEEPING, ROOMS lo the Goorgla Home Id- I inrftnoe Building, among whioh 11 tbe 1 o*ee bow oeeupted by Southern Life loiurftoee Company.
