Special to the Cincinnati Commercial.]
There is going to be a jolly row in the
Cabinet. There ie too much intellect in it
for ona thing, and lately there baa devel
oped too mooh ambition in eertMn mem-
beta As long aa Orent put only fourth-
rata men into thnOabineC he had a happy
family that rivaled Barnom’e famous col
lection. Those were the calm days of long
ago. When he stumbled on two flrat-olasu
man, via , Jewell and Bristow, he ignn-
rantly plunged his house into n confused
disoord, ana now the evil out is to pay,
and there is no pitch hot enough. Several
members of the Cabinet bsvs lately ex.
tressed themselves quite frequently and
oroibly ax very much disgusted with tha
way in wbioh Benjamin Bristow has been
tanning things, with a view to forcing
himself npon the Republican party ns
tbelr candidate for tha Preaidenoy next
year.
Columbns Delano has been oneof these,
and since he has ascertained that Bristow
filed the oharges with the President
against him and eon John, ha has been
nnnsnally emphatic. When Bristow end
Jewell flret came into the happy family,
Delano waa greatly disgusted, looking
npon them as pretended moral animals,
that properly bad no place in the oage.
Time haa only added to this feeling.
Every lime that Jewell or Bristop made a
change for the good of the servion in the
way of retranoemont and reform, and
modestly lot their light so shine that men
might see their good works, whieh they
never failed to do, Brother Delano
felt that then was an intentional
reflection cast upon the Interior De
partment end its pions heed. He brooded
quietly over these things for a long time.
He Is still brooding, but not so quietly,
end the ohnnoea are that he will ernpt
violently very soon. He says that if
Bristow don’t stop he will pin back his
ears and go for him. On the other hand,
Bristow intimates that he will have some
thing to offer before the close of Mr.
Delano’s proposed performance,end don’t
seem st nil frightened. From‘all of whioh
it is apparent that Mr. Grant onght to
scatter this happy family to various sum
mer resorts before the weather sets in,
for if this thing oomet to a head in dog
deya there is no predieiing the results.

It is true that Jackson was a lawyer as

credited to that profession. So Pierce
