Cotton Culture Fever in Cal
ifornia.—We extract the following
from the Brook Haven Democrat,
under date of February 16th :
They have the cotton culture fever
in California. We noted the oilier
day ihe preparations for growing col-
ton on a large i-cale in certain coun
ties of the state and the proposed
erection of a large cotton mill at Han
Francisco. It is proposed now to
plant ue& islaud cotton seed largely
in the southern part of the state next
March and April. This will be an
experiment, as sea isdund cotton has
hitherto only been uniformly success
ful in South Carolina. Upland cot
ton of a superior quality has been
produced in Kean county, California.
