Sunday last from the convict camp of
Robert Hendrix, at Newnan, Ga., and

their way to Atlauta, Their names are
Gus lteese, John Redd in, Alexander
Wisdom, Willis Wisdom and Dock
Kilgore. The result of the police's in
vestigation indicates that two of them
are in Atlauta.
—Macon Telegraph: The Evening
News thinks mere is “a pontica*
dodge” in this “adjourned session”
business. We are sure there is a per
sonal dedgo in it—a dodge of respon
sibility, audaii invasion of the consti
tution. It says : “It is quite evident

hold a summer session of that body.

—Some meau-hearted wretch dropped
a chunk of iron or steel into tho arte

Calhoun County Courier: “Tho man
who committed the act ought to be
made to drink slop and water from a
nog wallow, and be afflicted with chills
that will shake the llocky Mountains.”
—Sumter Republican: A. P. Lingo,
our efficient city marshal, has three
horses which ho has captured here iu a
few davs, and one which was delivered
10 the owner, Dr. Sheridan, ol Chatta
hoochee county, on Wednesday, mak
ing tho fourth. The horses w hich he
has on hand belong to parties iu Co
lumbus—one lor J. T. Holland, one for
W. A. Waters and one for J. P. Reese.
They were brought here by a negro
man, whose name is withueld, and
sold much below their value. The
marshal also captured a saddle brought
iiere by the negro which belongs to a
Mr. Dunt. The negro is bound for the
penitentiary, for just as soon as Lingo
sees him he will clap the darbies on
him and lock him up.

'-On the down train to Chekaw last
Friday a Hat loaded with cotton took
lire and sixteen bales were somewhat
damaged before it could be extin
guished. The amount of damages are
not exactly known.
—Tuskegee News: A young
town went to see bis sweetheart the
other night and stayed so late that the
young lady’s mother brought
dozen eggs and asked him to hatch
them lor her. He took the bint and
left, declaring that he would never go
there again.
The Montgomery Advertiser say
that ‘‘among the liberal subscrip.ious
made during the epidemic at Peusa
cola was the sum of $651) 25 contributed
by the employes of the Louisville and
Nashville road. This amount does not
include tho subscription of $500 by the
management of the road.”

Thursday cut the boom at Mr. D. It
Knowlton’s Raw mill, at S’. Augustine,

nately, timely discovery was made,
aud all the timber, excepting two or
three logs were recovered. •
—Jacksonv’Po has an elevator with
a capacity of 65,060 bushels; also con
nected therewith is a mill with 600
bushels a day grinding capacity, and a
machine for workiug the elevator and
handling, sacking and barreling tho
grain, Hour ana feed.
—A train of five wagons, containing
three families, from Polk county, Ga.,
passed through Jasper last Thursday,
on their way to Polk county, Fla. They
had emigrated from Hillsborough
county, Fia , five years ago, and are
now returning. “There is no place like
home.”
—Colonel Jgrso Burton, ol Crescent
City, refused $50,000 for his orange
grove, near that place, last week, Col.
Burton broke ground on this place
thirteen years ago, aud his grove is tho
result of his own labor, with Buch
transient help as he could lrom time to
time secure.
A number of prominent capitalist
met in Washington ou Sunday and took
steps toorganize the Florida shin canal
company, with a capital of $5,0u0,000.
The object is to construct a ship canal
across the peninsula of F.orida from
the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic
ocean. We presume it is the old Flori
da canal scheme revived.
—Brooksville Crescent: Mr. Mc
Guire brought in lor exhibition the

—A cotton seed oil mill is being
erected at Lloyd, on the Florida Uon
tral, near Tallahassee, for Mr. W. L.
Bond, one ol the enterprising fanners
ol Leon county. The mill will contain
all the improvements that experience

ment of tho cotton seed, and will bo a
valuabio acquisition to the material iu-
usiries of me state.

association are: A. R. Godwin, pres

—The pastoral letter of Bishop
Young to the eiorgy ana laity ol the

clergymen aud twelve parishes
Within a few years twouty six
churches have been erected, or are in
progress and the tunas for building
several others have been raised. There
are over fflty missions and placts
where the services of the church
held, besides the oigan-sssd parishes.
Tho ciergy at the last meeting of the
couucil, in May, numbered twenty-
one. Ten have been added since that
period. In 1870 there was but one
communicant to every 322 ofour popu
lation, while in 1880 there was one to
every 172. This rapid iucrease in tho
struggle and influence of this brauch
ol tho Protestant church must be
pleasant to all good citizens.

A contemplation of these horrible 11 wrecks" work wonderfully apon the mind. The thought makes
one feel sad. The strain upon dnheate female nerves is too great. A married lady of our acquaintance
was so wrought upon mcntAlly that she became low-spirited and sad, lost her appetite, refused food, be
came feeble and emaciated, nervous and fretful, llor friends insisted that she should not think of these
“ wrecks ” so much, but she insisted that she was sick in reality, aud took her bed. She soon had aches
and pains, and worked herself Into a net-work of femalu troubles, which eventually ended in chronic
female weaknesses and excesses and death.
Another case in point was that of a young lady. She bad lost a friend aud soon becamo melancholy
and nervous, could not sleep soundly, her memory began to foil her, she lost all desire for company, her
