upon Smith, sending to him by way
of explanation the following mesa
sap : ‘ For God’s sake let me have
tbe wire; it may save a girl’s life ”
This, of course, was all that Smith
wanted lo know,and wondering how

to the nearest physician, Dr Soblev,

Smith knew that Big .Indian waa
only a little back wOods station, with
not even a drugst.ire, and Dr Scbiey,
who was telegraphed for, might not
be rtaohed until too late. The big
operating room in New York is
stocked with all kinds ot wiedom.
Smith called to Dt Osborne, who
was working a wire close 'o him;
soon five mote doctors, with Dr
Oiborne and Smith in their centre,
were in earnest consultation, and in
less than five minutes from tbe time

Doctor, Smith vigorously called for
the Big Indian man and
asked nlm what had been done to
save th'giil The reply cam*: “Oh,
Lord, nothing We dou’t know
what to do, and are waiting for Dr
Schley.” Dr Osborne grabbed tho
key and ticked; ff peremptorily:
' Lh Dr Sohley alone, and fill that
girt as full as y, u can of mustard and
water, tbav is to relieve her stomach
of the poisoi; then be sure to keep
her all the time iu mo'lon, walk her
up ai d down. Switch her and pinch
her. D nt let her go to sleep, what
ever you do.”
