The follow ing item mav be interesting to
our readers because of the fact that the
young lady mentioned wils formerly n
pupil in our female college. The ease of
the state vs Jesse P. Grffin, indictment for
seduction, was taken up in Terrell superior
court Thursday morning, lout was contin
ued by the state oil account of the indispo
sition of the prosecutrix, who has had n
recent spell of sickness. This ease has at
tracted muc h attention on account of the
high standing and excellent family rela
tions of both the prosecutrix and defend
ant. Miss Eva Lennard is the prosecutrix,
and is a beautiful and thoroughly accom
plished young lady, while Alt . Griffin, the
defendant, is a young man of fine social
and merchantilc standing, and counts his
friends by the scores. It is a most unfor
tunate affair, and is deeply deplored by the
entire community. After the ease had
been continued by the state, tile defend
ant, who hod announced ready for trial,
was allowed by the court to enter a. de
mand for trial on the minutes of the court
and the ease is set for hearing as the first
thing to be disposed of at the next term of
the court on Monday, No vein be i 22 next,
immediatciv after the organization of the
court.

first shipments. No quotations hav e ap
peared in the New York market lists yet,
and no receipts have been reported from
other cities. There is every indication that
the crop will be unusually large and fine
this season, and dealers expect to handle
good fruit at low prices. The orchards
along the Central railroad, between Savan

with rapidly ripening fruit. Small ship
ments are expected daily for the next ten
