The death of Airs, Caldwell, who, for
many years, occupied a prominent position
among the most useful educators of the
south, has given rise to the inquiry, !
whether the Rome Female college will be

ing department, and of the social life of

me as a principal teacher for eighteen
years. He has been quietly giving instruc
tions, unsurpassed in accuracy, thorough
ness and efficiency, and now occupies a

fore, be resumed, with competent assist
ants, on the first Monday of September,
under this new arrangement, which, I
trust, will be satisfactory to the trustees of
tlie synod of Georgia and to our natrons. .

natural, quiet sleep by relieving the child
from pain, and the little cherub awakes as
“bright as a button.” It is very pleasant
to taste. It soothes the child, softens the
gums, allays ail pain, relieves wind, regu

remedy for diarrhoea, whether arising
from teething or other causes. Twenty-

Divers in thirty feet of water at Holyoke ;

work of the hoisting engines more directly
than by the old system of signals by jerk
