Golden's Improved Iron Screw Cotton Press,
Tills cut is an illustration of ••Golden'* Improved Iron Merew 4'olton Preiw,"
erected In the most substantial and convenient manner. It is simple In construction, and so well
illustrated by the cut, that scarcely a word is needed by way of explanation. Being Himply an
Iron Screw anti Nut substituted for wood, the wood work of its construction, and the manner
of operating it, are substar stantiully the same as in the old style of wooden plantation screw, bm
the timbt rs required are not so heavy or long. Most planters of ex|>erience prefer the wooden screw
to any of the more modern Cotton Presses in use, but tho difficulty and uncertainty of controlling
labor and mechanical skillin the season of the year most convenient to the planter for their erec
tion, usually renders it a matter of economy, as well as necessity , with him, to buy some kind of
Press that requires but little mechanical skill to put it in operation. "Golden** Hcrvw,” Is a
sort of compromise between the old style of wooden screw and the modern Cotton Press, combining
the principal advantages of the former with the convenience nnd economy of the latter. It can be
operated with greater facility than t lie wooden screw, and the rapidity of its performance, like that
of the wooden screw, or any other press, depends upon its management—ns on the old style screws
some planters would pack ten bales, and others thirty or thirty-five hales per day. Any ordinary
mcchunic who can make u good plantation gate, or comimu: plow stock, can do the wood work.
Within the last eleven years we have made and sold > great many of these screws, and have yet
to hear of the first one that has not given entire satisfaction.
We furnish all the Iron Work for th w Screw-, of which we make two s’/ • •. and fully warrant* .
