DAILY ENQUIRER - SUN: COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, WEDNESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 3, 1886. THE ANARCHIST WOMEN. Vbc Wife* end Nwi'HbMrt* of the rhlrairo Bondi Thrower,. Chicago, October .TO.—“ Do you know why I.ltiRK iasui'li n favorite among femalo anarchists?” naked a socialist yesterday. <« No, it isn’t because he in handsome. It is for the reason that he is apparently in different to his fate. I mean by this that he exhibits that bravado or dare-devil recklessness which wins the admiration of callow girls and hare-brained women. Be fore he was captured up near the Hinman street station, a week or more after the Haymarket riot, he was not known outside of the armed group. The ferocity with which he fought Officers Lowensteln and Sbuttler when they overpowered him in his friend’s house attracted the atten tion of anarchists all over the city. Young girls saw in him a hero, und when the trial began many of them came to the criminal court for no other purpose than o see the young man who was so bold as to defy the law and its ser vants. They saw in the bomb maker a good-looking fellow, who, at all appear ance, was as stolid as a statue of Justice above his head. As the story of his devil-* iah work was drawn from the mouths of the witnesses these girls—these ‘reds’ in petticoats—began to think that he whs just too brave and too nice for anything. They Wrote letters to him, and shook the tips of Ails Angers through the iron lattice work of the jail. Kisses, the only anarchistic token of friendship, passed between them. There were pledges of undying love for one another, and before half the spooney girls knew just what they were doing, Lmgg was settiug dates lor orange blossoms, beer and a German hand. I hear that Spies is going to get married in jail. Per haps there will be a double wedding, the bomb maker figuring ils the other groom.” “The pretty woman in black who sat all through the anarchists’ trial,” said an at tache of the criminal court, “is August Bpies’ staunchest friend in Chicago. She ' believes the arch anarchist innocent of llir- chargo upon which he was tried, slid I have no doubt that she would readily ex change places with him if she was positive that by so doing he would gain his liberty They are more than friends -August and this little woman in black. Each longs to take the other by the hand and walk up to the altar; but then there are the bars and the terrible sentence of death. They may be married before the hangman builds the tree of death for the groom, but it will take place within the walls of the jail and in the very atmosphere of the grave. 1 watched the little woman in black while the fiery leader of the reds made his eloquent and defiant plea before Judge Gary. Charmed with the flowery passages of'his philippic, she would toHs her head about in piquant ad miration; but when the speaker, with knit ted brow, hissed and thundered his bitter sentences against Grlnnell and the Jury, the woman sat as motionless as a statue, ilor eyes blazed with a Intent fire, her cheeks grew red with excitement and her breath came short and fast. I watched her all through that speech, but the only time that, her eyes filled with tears was when the pale and curly haired prisoner de clared that if death was the penalty IV r proclaiming the truth he would proudly and defiantly pay the price. It. was then that the little woman in black wept in the folds of her handkerchief.” Free Trade. The reduction of internal revenue and the taking off of revenue stamps from Pro prietary Medicines, no doubt has largely benefited the c<msnmcrs.os well as relieving the burden of home manufacturers. Es pecially is this the cose with Green’s Au gust Plower und Boschee’s German Syrup, as the reduction of thirty-six cents per dozen, has been added to iucrease the size of the bottles containing theso remedies, thereby giving one-fifth more mediuiue in the 75 cents size. The August Flower t'oi Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint, and the German Syrup for Cough and Lung trou bles, have perhaps, the largest sale of any tuedicines in the world. The advantage ol increased uize of the bottles will be greatly appreciated by the siek and afflicted, in every town ana village in civilized coun tries. Sample bottles for 10 cents remain the same size “-wl v SUV ll UN III.illlg. “Papa,” said a Philadelphia maiden, “Charley wants to know if you will suv ‘yes’ if he asks your consent to marry me.” “llumph I 1 think it is the young man’s place to ask that question himself.” “Oh, pa, I know he will never ask you. Way, he is so bashful t.uat no would not have popped the question if I hadn’t told him that if he didn’t 1 would get real mud at itim.” “And so it wt s you who popped 7” “Oh, no, pa. I didn't pop. I merely gave him to understand that I was willing to marry him if he asked me.”—Philadel phia Herald. advice to Mothers.—AIks. Winslow’s S iothing Syrup should always be used wheu children are cutting teeth. It re lieves the little sufferer at ouce; it produces natural, quiet sleep by relieving the child from pain, and the little cherub awukes as “bright as a button.” It is very pleasant to taste. It soothes the child, softens the Klims, allays all pain, relieves wind, regu lates the bowels and is the ticBt known remedy for diarrhoea, whether arising from teething or other causes. Twenty- five cents a bottle. jel7 dawly A lattle Too Mur.li. “The cellar is full of water,” said a lady who was lookiug at au oust side Harlem flat. “Yes,” assented the proprietor, “butyou must bear in mind that at this time of day it is flood tide. We can’t rent you soven rooms, madam,” he added in an injured tone ofvoioe, “and at the same time guar antee to control the Atlantic ocean for $30 a month.”—N. Y. Bun. A Nomination In Chicago. Mobile, November 1.—Report of a big burglary atSUubuta, Miss.. Saturday night, reached" this city yesterday. Sliubufa is a flourishing town on the Mobile and Ohio railroad, ninety-six miles north of Mobile, and Saturday is a big trading day. Satur day afternoon a medium sized big-nosed man, dressed in a mixed suit of tweed, and wearing a Derby hat somewhat too large for his head, appeared at Shubuta. His appearance was not that of a tramp, but he‘begged for food, which, when furished, he did not have the appetite to eat. This excited suspicion. That night this man and another strange man were seen in front of Mr. Moses Green hood’s store. In the morning discovery was made that sev eral stores had been entered and the safes crocked with tools taken from the con struction car which stood on the track near by. The safe of Mr. Greenhood was opened by the use of the combination. It is said that the letters of this combination were written upon a piece of paper which was pasted on the inner side of the leg ot the sale. The burglars must have discovered this memorandum, for they opened the safe without injuring it in the uijist. One thousand dollars rewarded this discovery. It is not known how much money tnev captured from the other safes, one of which was the safe of Captuin C. C. Ferrlll, one of the largest general mer chants in the town. Further particulars will be obtained to-night. It is reported that every safe in town except one was broken open, and in addition to money the burglars secured a lot of silverware The express agents throughout the south have been cautioned to keep a sharp look out In ease auy one wishes to ship silver ware to-day. If tlie burglars cannot dis pose of the “swag,” it will give them away. It was thought they had taken the early train for Mobile, but dilllgent senrcli here does not confirm this idea. The burglars are evidently experts and will not be easily caught. MJCltLKN’H AltNH'A SALYK. The best Salve in the world for Cuts, CENTRAL RAILROAD, Columbus, Ga., September 16, 1886.
