An accompanying note iuformed the doctor that he had a charit able case tc deal with, and with such information his answer to the question, “Can you make me see and h w much will it cost?” was, “I can, Get you a place to stop at lor a few days, and my services will be contributed as a Christmas gift.” The old lady procured a place, and a f-»w days ago, with the assistance of Drs. Griggs and Sheri* dan, Dr. Bullard removed an opaque lens from the eye ball, winch was the cause of this long and dreary night. After the delicate surgical opera- I lion was completed the doctor inquired, “Can you see; and did I hurt you?” “Ohl I see the ! bl io sky, I see your hand; I didn’t know that you j had cut my eye open,” was the eager response, j The old lady will return home in a few days, and j we venture to say, will try and keep her Christ mas gift as long as she lives. Interfering With the Patent Medicine Mail. Last night while Dr. Sloan was selling his med- iciue ou Broad Street, below the Georgia Home corner, bis business was interrupted by some one throwing a cannon cracker on his stand. The doctor was stooping, and iu the act of opening his valise containing the medicine, when the cracker popped near.y in his face. We understand that a prominent merchant on the east side of Broad street says he is responsi ble for the act, and expresses his determination to do the same thing to-day if the doctor persists in soiling his medicine in front of his store. The merchant has been summoned to appear before the mayor Monday morning. Worthily Bestowed.
