ITEMS FOR THE LADIES.
A Dazzling Display of New Spring Goods.
Prettiest Place in the City.
In down-right earnest has the spring trade
opened at the spacious new store of J. A. Kirvei
A Co. The crowds of ladies who have thronged
the attractive appartments during the present
week has been absolutely without precedent,
and the numerous purchases demonstrates be
yond dispute that their stock meets with public
ravor. The scene presented In this establish
ment daring business honrs is both animated
and picturesque. Mr. Kirven, who is ever pres
ent, M now aided by twenty-six assistants, many
of them being ladies, and all are kept constantly
buoy, as up to 10 o’clock last night, when the
man of news was on his rounds, be dropped in
and found all busy, with no time to write adver
tisements; as Mr. Kirven put it: “Just tali the
public that I have enraged three moi
meuse stock you see there is 32 another ship
ment of new-shaped bonnets, bats, etc., for the
millinery department. We have received also a
choice lot of lace suitings. Our millinery trade
has been on a boom and we’ve had to telegraph
for tbit last shipment. No house in Columbus
can show such a variety of dry goods, millinery,
etc., and they ran be bad at all pricea.”
No one in search of dress goods, millinery,
rugs, oil cloths, etc., should feu to call at J. A
Kirven A Co.’s, To specify one-third of wbat
they carry in stock is a task we are unwilling to
undertake: but we will guarantee a pleasant
hour or two to all who may rail and examine the
stock shown by this mammoth establishment.

THE NEW YORK STORE
“Takes the Cake ,, This Season.
It is the unanimous opinion of all that
Cargill’s stock of Spring and Summer Dry
Goods is the handsomest in Columbus, and
the low prices at which they are being
sold is really wonderful. The proprietor
is daily complimented npon the taste dis
played in the selection of his stock, the
special attraction being the lovely shades
in Henriettas, Cashmeres, Challys, French
Beiges. Albatrosses, Nun’s Veilings, Sat
eens, Zephyr Organdies, Surahs and Moire
Silks, and the White Goods, Laces and Em
broideries are simply lovely. Every de
partment has its attractions, and low prices
prevail throughout the stock. Think of
it. A good parasol for 25c.; Gents’ Best
Four-ply Linen Collars, new let, 10c. each,
or$1.00 a dozen; a good Bustle for 10c.;
which will give you some idea of the way
they are selling goods. In addition to the

We never deviate from our well-known
principle of
MODEST PROFITS!
And when this is applied to extreu:
fashionable goods, on which other hou« s
are accustomed to make what from our
standpoint are unreasonable demands, we
do not wonder that ladies are prone at hr-:
to doubt whether the goods are what they
seem; but buyers of discriminating jud? -
ment and cultivated tastes, who dc no:
care to pay the unnecessary tax simply - 3
have the stamp of these firms o-’ the other
firms on their goods before they can trust
their own good senses, are not slow to rec
ognize the enormous pecuniary benefit de
rived in purchasing from us, as luxuries
like necessities, are sold at the popul-J
prices on which our reputation was made,
and which will always remain its corner
stone.
