'“There are hundreds of accounts of this
kind on the books of the banks. I know
this, because not long ago I knew of an
investigation being male. A client went
to his lawyer and said he had reason to
Believe that his father, who had been dead
everal years,had left money in the Bleeck-
Sr Street Savings Bank. The lawyer made
tn investigation, and found that his
Hient’s father had an account there. It
was opened away back in 1830. Four
years afterward he evidently intended to
close it, for he drew out all the money de
posited except $10. This $10 had been
there since 1834, and had never been
touched. The claimant proved his iden
tity, and the bank paid over the money.
How much do you suppose it was? Three
hundred and sixty-six dollars. The $3-56
was the interest which had accumulated

Another Pleasant Gebman.—The
social season has been unusually gay dur
ing the past week, and several very de
lightful entertainments have been given.
Last evening the favorite L’Allegro Club
tendered the young ladies visiting the city
a german, which was danced in the large
dining hall at. the Vernon. Though the
week has been a gay one, there were out a
large number of the fairest daughters of
Columbus who were with the charms of
the fair visitors. The music was excellent,
and in every respect the german was a de
cided success. The chaperons were Mrs.
George Swift, M\s. Dr. Osburn, Mrs. B. T.
Hatcher, Mrs. F. A. Clark and Mr. and
Mrs. William Parsley.
Among the participants in the pretty
dance were the following named couples:
