This net •jf tardy Justice is nothing morn nor loss than a proposition submitted to tho Leg islature to pay him for services rendered, small pox cases, among tho Indians ?r thirty years ago. These services ro performed under an order of the City Council of Columbus, and ought to have been paid at tho time; but it was postponed from year to year, by tlie pica that there was no money in tho treasury, until finally the debt was repudiated, and tlm Doctor given to understand that if ho prosecuted his claim In tho court*, the City Attorney would bo instructed to plead in liar thereof tlm Statute uf Lim itations ! At ibis juncture another effort was made, and tho Legislature wa- peti tioned to pay it-— a bill for the settlomont of all such claims being thon under con sideration in that body; but by some means this just and long standing claim w as loft, out, tho committee deciding that it was the debt of our City Council and should 1>o paid by tho city. And now, after three distinct committees of tho Leg- Mature have ns many times reported in favor of tho claim—that, in their opinion*, it was “just, rciiftonnhlo and right, uml 'ought to he paid" wo are glad to see a special bill has boon offered upon tho subject, which wo sincerely hope will puss, and thus an act of even handed justice ho done.
