Gov. Grate Brown* (Couservutivo lie-

and his pet Ku Klux bill:
•’I think the main point at issue will be
the ousting of Mr. Grant. So fur as tbe
pint forms are concerned, I think that the
platform of the Democracy embodies ev
erything necessary for the proper admin
istration of affrtiis. The Kn Klnx bill
passed at tho last session* I think, will
prove a great bugbear for tie administra
tion, and will, iu a grant measure, cause
the overthrow of the Grant party. * *
1 believe that the Radical emissaries in
the .Southern States are iu a great meas
ure respons.bl. for the Ku-Klux outrages
whenever they have been committed. 1
furthermore Itli. vo that the Givcrnors
of the different States are, and have al

Tlic Ku-Klux have been magnified a hun

Tin: Colvmuch FA^Toar.- By invita
tion of Mr. J. R. Olupp, we yesterday
had the pleasure of paying our first visit,
since the war, to the above establishment,
situated at tho head of Coweta Fulls, J!.j
miles above the city. The Columbus
fac ory was originally built in 18fifi, by
Capt. Johnson, and waa tho second built
in the State, tho first, the old Georgia
factory, located near At hops, having pre
viously been erected by the name mao.
Il was built by a stock company com
posed of tho fofluMitig oTd landmarks of
Columbus : R. C. Shorter, Seaborn Jones,
Edward Carey, George Hargraves, nr.,
Stewart Fontaine and John Warren. In
18fi8 it wus purchased from tho abovo
company by Clapp A Chaodler, and finally
wo believe came under the exclusive con
trol of Mr. J. R. Clap]), who carried it on
successfully until it was burned dowu by
SVilson'« raiders iu lhlifi. The nute-bel-
ium factory manufactured osnaburgs,
hbeetings, shirtings, stripes and various
styles of woolen goods. The new factory
was rebuilt in 18(W ’IJ7, some fifty yurds
above tho old site, uuder the auspices of
a new company, of which the following
named gentlemen are chief stockholders :
Messrs. Richardson and Todd, of Louis
ville, Ky.: Hamsun, of New Orleans ;
Gen. A. R. Law ton, of Savannah; Alex
ander, of Giifiiu; Dr. T. J. Brooks, of
Marion couuty ; und Messrs. P. J. Phil
lips, C. E. Dexter, K. H. Chilton and J.
R. Clapp, of Columbus. The new build
ing, though a four-story wooden oue, is
quite an improvement upon the old oue.
Hiuce the war the company have bent
their main energies to the manufacture of
a superior article of sheeting and shirting,
No. 14 yarns* aud sewing and knitting
thread. All surplus yarns are sold iu
Philadelphia. The demand is brisk for all
goods umle. As yet only one hundred
looms me being run* from which about
120,tMM) yards per month or l,5oo,o(K> per
year are turned oat, iu tbe production of
which 1200 bales of cotton are oonsunied.
127* hands are employed, from whose
labor twice os many more are supported.
The best weavers earn from $7 to $t> per
week. Thu opeiativei have neat houses
on nu elevuted hill, where pare air and
water is abundant, and have spaeiooa
gardens from which a profusion of veg
etables are produced. One spring de
lightfully aud romantically located fur
nishes the best of water for the entire
village. W. V. Rounds, an Englishman,
