The importance of such a place for interchange of ideas, prices, purchases and sales by samples, Ac., is too evident for comment. No city of the size and importance of Macon is so far behind the age on this continent as this. Its energetic merchants and business men will not permit such a condition to exist much longer, we hope. . Dar Goons.—Oar merchants have done a good wholesale trade daring the past week. It will be noticed that, according to Mr. Cubbedge's quotations, there has been a decline of two cents in gold, a slight advance in two of the stocks in market, and advances in the quota tions for the circulation of several of the depre ciated banks.
