This Injunction, of ootme, will be fooght in
the eoart below, on a motion to dmaolre, and
, go which way tha egoao may, appeal wiB
ba takan to the Stqwemg. Court cf the State. It
ia, probably, ia redact To it* seope and general
eonaiqnenaea, the moet important anit ever
bnmghtin Georgia, and in Ota course of the
Wei, will array On beet legal and forenaie talent
in the Slate.
The Injunction leatralm the pntehees in
question, on tha grondzof a violation of the
franchisee of thcee companiea, and of general
pobMc otihty and convenience. In a word, w*
imdcntmid that the bffl (which we have notaaen)
tehee ahnoat identical grosmd with the long edi
torial article in the Tuonans, about a fort
night ago, in which we express* ri the opinion
that cosnbinationaof capital and credit, resulting
these franchises, could net lawfully be
wielded aoee to obatroet pubbe improvement,
and interfere with the public convenience, and
the dcrelopement of trade.
The matter ia in the handa of the courts—
then ws shall leave it, with the remark that we
ardently desire tha prosperity of all our rail
roads: but, at the some ttaae, behave it to ba
indispensable public policy that they should be
uatiatiwliliho from nintNIantsndnnrqnsItiT
alien of tbs public, and from cutting each oth
ers' throats by an over-grasping and unnatural
ttition. If our courts shall anrtain the
grounds taken by this bill, Georgia will lead
off in ortahhrhing a wise and liberal oosj-
strnctioc of railway franchisee, which forbids
what may be witnessed in other States—snch gi
gantic combinations of raOwsy influence aa are
popularly believed to control the politics, as
well as flnaneee of thoee States—combinations,
for example, like the Pennsylvania Central, in
the Keystone State, and the Camden and Amboy
fat Haw Jersey.

The elate of affairs on the Ogeeehee contin
ues to bo the all absorbing topic thnmghout the
city, and people eagerly listen to all reports and
rumors, however wild or improbable they may
be, which comae from that section.
We have from a gentleman, who came up yes
terday morning, a confirmation of the report
that the negroes, in strong fores, and thoroughly
ware lying near the railroad, watching
the movements of aad prepared to resist the
Sheriff's posse which went down on Wednesday.
When the train moved off, he says, some six or
seven hundred negroes came out on the railroad,
and the leader went about cursing and saying,
“The white were afraid to come
aad attack us, aad have gone back for more
men.” He says that there is a very large force
of the negroes at No. 1, and that they are deter
mined to resist any attempt to arrest them.
Another gentleman confirms the report, and
says that soon after the return of the special
train, a gravel train came along, and the ne
groes crowded the track and would not move off.
The train then went down the road.again.
A oountryman from Liberty county arrived
miles this side of Chapman’s house. He
stopped by five different picket parties, each
f numbering eight or ten men. They told
to tell the shite men of Savannah to come
an—that they were ^eady for them. After
questioning this man, they finally allowed
him to come on to the city, telling him
not to come back again, or they would kill him.
The negroes from the Augusta road were
crossing to the Ogeeehee in large numbers yes
terday, and joining the inaurreotionaiy
The latest news which we have fr
soene of the trouble represents it as I
and that the negroes, by threats and
tions, are forcing those who are disposed to re
main peaceable to join them. So far their op
erations (are confined to the “neck,” west of
the railroad, and between the two Ogeeehee
riven, but if not speedily checked it is feared
that it will extend into Bryan county.—
Alderman Burroughs, who was at his plantation
on Wednesday, reports all quiet in that section,
and his son laaHtns there in charge of the place,
erreefttoed from a planter in Bryan con-
the following:
•It ia unnecessary for me to my how urgent
the necessity is for immediate action, as the
badly disposed negroes are all the time increas
ing their force by intimidating those who would
not join could they see any power to protect
them. If action is delayed much longer I fear
the xiiaehief will extend.” »
Dave Briatar, e eolored man in the employ at
Majcr Middleton, who was friendly to that gen
tleman, was driven away by the negroes. Dave
arrived here last evening. He says that on
Wednesday the negroes went to Southfield and
uttered threats against has old cook, and de
manded to know from her where the mules were.
did notffmow, and they then brought up
scene mules and carried off the carta. They then
went after Dave, who took his two children and
fled. He lay out in the woods, in the rein, all
Wednesday night, and came in yesterday even
ing, almost worn out Dave confirms the state
ment that these disorderly negroes are forcing
the quietly disposed ones to join them, and that
if they are not put down they will murder all
who oppose their actions. They have not burned
any of the buildings thus far.
On Wednesday the rioters took John Hogan,
(colored) one of Mr. Middleton’s watchmen,
and the man who gave shelter to O’Donald, and
the wives and children of the white
were beaten and driven from Southfield, and led
him off. The last seen of him he was being
driven in the direction of the railroad track, at
the paint of the bayonet, by a gang of the ne
groes. Nothing has been beard of him since,
and it ia not known whether ba wa murdered
er driven off.
When the Gulf Bailroad train arrived at No. 1
lafit evening, nothing unusual occurred. No ne
groes appeared, but posted in a conspicuous
place was a manifesto, which must have come

nde attempts at writing, recognise it, and
