It is not amiss here to state that of all the
pine timber that is brought to the New York
market none is more highly esteemed than
the Georgia pine. For tracts of this land,
One of the New York journals estimates that
there are 200,000 people out of work within
aight of the spire of Trinity Church. Within
an equal distance of the Bute House at Bos
ton there are doubtless 00,000 more, and
another 50,000 in the interior of New Eng
land. Most of these unfortunate persons are
anxious for employment, bnt cannot, obtain
it. Even the high tariff, which so enriches
the great manufacturers, does not put amor-
ing fruit trees. The rich, luxuriant appear
ance of the orange, with pendant clusters of
golden fruit, present? a scene of exquisite
beauty to the eve of a Georgian.

In regard to the price of lands, for this pur
pose, back from the river banks from five to
ten dollars per acre is asked. These are gen
erally found to be low hammocks and pine
woods, nnimproved. All lands on the river
banks even a? liigh up as Palatka, are held
front ten to twenty dollar lots, at from
-fifty to one hundred dollars per acre, unim
proved. Smaller place? of two hundred
orange trees, bearing, would cost several
thousand dollars. .
