Thi* premium U suggested hy Mr. Wynn, of
\Vnmn connty, a Kucoonsfal manufacturer of
ginx. It is adopted because, os remarked by
him, tho attention now devoted to the improve
ment of tho staple of upland cottons has al
ready produced on upland ataple which requires
an order of gin adapted to the ginning of a
much finer and longer .staple than the common
upland, which win, at too same time, answer
for ginning the common cotton.

The above premiums aro suggested by Mr.
Truo, of Morgan, a member of toe Execntivo
Committee, who aays that a little reasonable
and innocent amusoiuent of tho land will not
ho out of place.
il3. For the best Dynamometer, to be
tested with plows on tho ground....... 10 00
This premium is suggested by CoL B. F.
Ward, president of too Butts Cmuity Agricul
tural Society. He writes that in a trial of
plows il will be almost impassible, without such
n test, to decide between closely competing in
struments. it* ^
14. For too best lsrgo thoroughbred Filly,
three years old 8 00
This premium was accidentally omitted in too
original published premium list. Attention was
called to the omission by Mr. Hamilton, of Jones
county, who Tory jmjperly insisted In his letter
that os this premium for three year olds was
offorod in the classes of Heavy Draft" and “All
work,” it would bo an invidious distinction to
omit it for thorongh-breds, unless it was the in-
tontion of the Committeo to set a highor value
upon “scrubs” than “blooda." » ■
15 For the Best Knight in a Tonroament...20 00
IG For tho second best Knight 1000
Those premiums are suggested in a petition
of numerous citizens of Macon. Several letters
also from individuals propose it. Persons com-
pc ting for theso premiums will bo required to
l>ay such additional entrance fees as the extent
of the necessary preparation for the perform
ance shall, in too judgment of too Committee,
require. If the contestants, as suggested by
Mr. Crawflold, of Albany, shall make a larger
purse by agreeing among themselves to pay
twenty.fivo or fifty dollars each, and then elect
ing their own jndges, who may award tho wholo
purse to too tost rider, or in proportion to toe
best and second best riders, why, it is presumed
that no objection will be interposed by the Com
mittee. All knights wishing to enter toe contest
can at any timo report their names to too Sec
retary, and toe sum they propose to pay into
the common fund to bo contended for by the
contributors. All details can be arranged when
the time of meeting arrives.

country will notice too following

I caII the attention of the Agricultural Socio-
tics of the State, to the resolotion of toe Febru
ary Convention offered by Judge Vason, to be
found on page si. If the Secretaries or Com
mittees of Connty Societies will report to me
monthly or oftener, the condition of toe crops,
the state and progress of the tillage—too contin
uation and effects of droughts os rains—the ap-
pearanco of insects—with ail curious or striking
faots or phenomena connected with Agriculture,
I could issue a monthly Bulletin through tho
Press of the State that would bo interesting to
farmers in all sections of the State because it
would speak from all sections of the State at
. once, of toe condition and prospe cts of the plant
ing in tercets.
Why Rhall we not have at least this -work of
co-operation to begin with ?
