PAINLESS DIGESTION.
“No man,” says Sir Astley Cooper, “ought to
know by his sensations that he has a stomach.” In
other words, when digestion is perfect there is neith
er ptin nor uneasiness in tho region where it takes
place. Nausea, want of appetite, flatulency, oppres
sion after eating, shootingpains in the epigastrium,
a flushing of tho face at meal times, and a furred
tongue in the morning, are among the direct symp
toms of indigestion. Constipation, biliousness,
hoadacho, nervous irritability, physical weakness,
and low spirits, .are its almost invariable accompani
ments. All these indications of dyspepsia, whether
immediate or secondary, are usually aggravated by
hot weather.
Tho close of summer is, therefore, the season
when tho victim of dyspepsia most urgently needs a
tonic and regulating medicine. Of coarse, every
invalid has many advisers. Ono friend recommends
one drag, another another; bat in a multitude of
counsellors there is not always safety. The stand
ard remedy for the preeent age for indigestion, in
all its stages, is nOSTETTEB’S STOMACH BIT
TERS. Time, that proves all things, has established
its reputation on an impregnablo fonndstion—tho
spontaneous testimony of millions of intelligent
witnesses. No acrid oil or arid defile* its stimula
ting principle; its tonio constituents are the finest
that botanical reaeach has yet discovered; it com
bines the properties of a gentle evacuant, a blood
depurent, and an anti-bilious medicine, with invig
orating qualities of the highest order, and is admit
ted, both by the public and the profession, to bo
the sorest protection against all diseases that are
produced or propogatod by pestiferous air or un
wholesome water, that has ever been nsod in the
United States or Tropical America.
In ease* of constipation resulting from a want of
muscular tone in the intestines, the effect of the
Bitters is perfectly marvellous; and without the
dangerous sequences of mercury, it restores the
disordered liver to a normal condition.
Nothing else equals King of Chills.
King of ChiUs cures old and yonng.
The planter's best friend, King of Chills.
A cheap chill remedy, King of Chills.
Akd he did many wonderful works, insomuch that

and after some days her pains were gone. Sho slept

Asa, from those which are called Quakers, in the
great city of Philadelphia, wroto an epistle saying:
O, Doctor I accept thou this money, which is called
greenbacks, and hath the picture of Abraham, thy
friend, on one end. For verily I was weak, exhaust
ed and despondent; I ate but little, and Buffered
many pains, and thy Prjurrano!* Dims gave mo

upon such as are afflicted with liver oomplaint, with

United States as a mediator between Spain and
Cuba, the proposition being the abolition of slavery
and the payment to Spain by the Cabans for forts,

mediation, there are serious obstacles in the way of

Spanish statesmen is, however, that Cuba will
eventually pass from Spanish control. It is slated
that Spain demands, as a preliminary, that the Ca

tbe Cubans will not do, haring no guarantee of pro

at the abeolnte control of the island, and have s se

the favorite remedy for chills and fever, dumb ague

to throw off disease. Pyrafuge does not nauseate

WORTHY Or ATTENTION,
To Dr. Tho8. A. Hurley:
I hereby certify that during last year I was attack
ed with the Ague whilst in Vicksburg. Miss., and used
several popular medicines with but temporary relief.
On reaching home the disease returned in a worse type,
if possible, when my medical attendant ordered Qui
nine in large doses—frequently as high as sixty
grains per day, and which must have cost me nearly
$100. I consulted Dr. Smith, of Louisville, and found
ho prescribed quinine and arsenic combined, which I
refused to take, preferring to let the disease take its
course. I was almost bloodness, extremely exhausted,
and pronounced with enlarge Liver and Spleen. About
this time the advertisement of Hurley *s Ague Ionic
appeared in a city paper, and I determined to givo it
a trial. I did so, and have no reason to regret it.
One bottle restored mo completely, and since that time
I have seen nearly a hundred cases in which it acted
with equally happy results, and would certainly
recommend it as preferable to any other tonic before
the public.
