that Charlotto Cushman, who has resided at
Romo for several years past, was at Edinburgh,
Sootland, quito ill. Miss Cushman is a native
of Boston, and was only twelve, when, some
thirty years ago, sho becamo a vocalist for tho
support of her father's family. Sho song at a
great ooncert with tho celebrated Mrs. Wood,
who prononneed hor tho finest contralto sho had
over hoard. Tho failure of hor voice in opera
drovo her to tho spoken drama, in which she
soon bccamo a favorite, and rapidly rose to an
enviablo fame in high comedy and tragedy.
The name of the “Cretan lady” who travels
with Yankee Robinson's circus is Senyah when
Rpelled backwards, as it always is on the bills,
but when it isn't it is Haynes. She has nover
been married, but almost as great a misfortune
befell her at Clyde, New York, the other day,
when somebody robbed her of $2000 in money
and twice that amount in diamonds, etc. She
belongs, not to Crete, bnt to Boston.
