Although endowed more liberally perhaps than any other county school in the slate, yet its funds having been unproductive 5 lor several years past being mostly vested in state ' hank stock, the academy has been much clogged It in its operation. Ihe board have not been able to d ffer an adequate inducement to engage the servi > ces of a Hector, who combined qualifications and >1 character, that would insure success to the semin - ary. This bar we are happy to state is removed and we congratulate the community in having procured (or the ensuing year, the Rev. Thomas Doubling, formerly of Liberty county, a gentle _ man whose scholarship and general character are mo notorious to require the feeble tribute,, of our praise. Mr. Guulding will superintend b-ithsehools h —his personal services and attention however h will he principally besto ved on the female tie* oartment.
