\N AFRICAN CITY. Three naval offi ers and a party of tin Aiulromache’s men, in the York fonder (says an English paper) visited that enter prising officer, Lieutenant Farewell, R. Chaca, Ring oi that part of the eastern coast of Africa, had given Lieutenant Farewell a grant of tin harbor and territory sui rounding, and dc inonstratod every civility and attention, fre qu-inlv soliciting Lieutenant Farewell In i -it his hutted city, distance about two day' walk from the coast. Cliacu’a force about him consists of from 13,000 to 15,000 well made fine young men, who are in a state of perfect nudity, and hardly one of them but appears to have been wounded.—Their instrument ol warefare i simply a shield and spear, of a larger si/,e than are used by other clans, and only one of each is per mitted to each warrior; if in action a man returns without either, he is instantly put to death. Their mode of fighting, there fore, dinars in some measure from the rest n( (he sivage tribes in Africa, since with this shield they dexterously avoid the thrown arrows of their enemies, whose practice is to carry numbers, and then rush in. Cha cha’s marauding routs and attacks are gene rally nocturnal. The kraaled city is situ ated one hill, the foot is walled in with a composition of manure, ch'y. and ear'll which cements and becomes .ibi able.
