THE first volume of a Series of Tales, translated and compiled from the works ot different authors, and not previously pub lished in the United States, was issued from theNew-York press in the month of July last; and in October next, a second volume will make its appearance. In the preface to the first yolume, the editor announced it to be his intention to continue the work quarterly, if the public patronized the undertaking. Since then he has had the most satisfactory proofs, that his efforts to increase the present stock of literary amusement and instruction have been generally acceptable.
