Notice t } the Public.
Ip the year 1848, the writer embarked in the Drug
business in the city of fhiladephip, and wL'le thus en
gaged, made several experiments in regard to the most
desirable mode of preparing Fluid Extracts. My ef
forts being success! ul—the articles being approved and
used by tbe Medical Faculty—l was desirous of plac
ing them before tbe public, but hesi ated for some time
before concluding to resort to newt paper advertising,
knowing of the prejndices that existed in tbe minds of
many against using advertised or A'oslrvms.
but through tbe advice of triends, and who bad
used them, this objection was overcome.
After 18 years exertions, commencing in a small
way, tbe popularity of niv ai tides has ex'ended to ail
parts of the United States, and widely throughout for
eign'countrioe—and this in the face of much opposition.
Every means has been resorted to by unprincipled
dealers since their merit and success have been known,
such as idvertising larger bottles at less price, censur
ing all other p'eparalions, and even copying my ad
vertisements—but 1 am happv to state that out ol the
many who have resorted to this, none have been suc
cessful.
My Objett
in this notice is to make far's known to the publicand
respectable dealers, belie' ing. alter so mat y years’ ex
ertions, that tbe Diuggi.-ts a H discountenance such
proceedings, and that me reputation of my articles may
not be damaged by tbe use of interior or spurious ones.
a Knowing that many may read Ibis article who are
unacquainted with me, 1 append a few rental ks from
those of my native city, whose names are knuwD in all
parte of tne world:
