OFFER TO PLANTERS AND FARMERS
THE GREAT FERTILIZER FOR COTTON AND ALL CROPS.
Haring introduced “WHMJf’S RAW BONE SUPER PHOSPHATE OF LIME” to a number
of Planters and Farmers in Georgia and South Carolina last year, where, we believe, it gave UNIVERSAL
SATISFACTION, we again offer it with renewed confidence in its merits, claiming for it, that it is UNSUR
PASSED AS A FERTILIZER and PERMANENT IMPROVER OF THE SOIL.
Below we publish Certificates of some who used Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate last year:
Messrr. Olaghorx, Hsrrjko A Co., Augusta, Ga.
Gentlemen:—In reply to your inquiries in regard to the
Whanu's Super Phosphate, which I bought of you, and used
oa my plantation, in Screven County, Ga., this year, I take
pleasure in saving that it gave me entire satisfaction, and
proved to be the best paying manure that I have ever used.
I estimate that over and above the cost of the Whann’s,
including freight and other expenses, that it paid me a net
profit of forty dollars and seventy-five cents per acre, where
I nsed it I used about three hundred pounds per acre.
_ I cheerfully recommend it as being the best manure that I
bare ever used, or seen nsed by others.

Mr. W. J. Russell—
Dear Sir: We, the undersigned, have used “ Whann’s
Haw Bone Super Phosphate” on Cotton, the past season,
and think it paid us fully ono hundred and fifty per cent, on
the cost; and will use all we can get money to pay for.the
next year, believing it better than any Fertilizer that has been
sold in this section. RATCLIFF H. BOON,

I would also, say, on my owu account, as a dealer in !
Guanos, that I have never sold a Phosphate that hs* given !
more satisfaction to my customers than Whann’s Raw Bone 1

Mr. Jos. S. Beak—
Hear Sir : In answer to your inquiry as to the rcsnlta of ;
Whann’s Raw Bone Supor Phosphate, purchased from you !
last year, I have to say: That I tried it both on Cotton and
Corn. . On the land I planted Com, with Whsun’s, it made i
twenty bushel* to the acre ; on tho same kind of land, without |
it, I made but eight bushel*. Where it was used on C’ottou, ‘-I
it increased my crop in the same proportion. j
I cheerfully recommend your Fertilizers to our Troup, aud j
adjacent county planters aa the best preparation I hare used, i

• Mb. Jos. S. Beak—
Dear Sir : I purchased of you last year seventeen tons of j
Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate^ and used it on my |
Cottou. It increased the yield where it was used one hundred j
per cent, and stood the drought better than any Fertilizer I \
have seen used in this county.
I cheerfully recommend it to our planters ; and shall want •
a large quantity front "yon for next crops.

Jos. S. Beak, Esq.,—
Dear Sir: I purchased of you some of “ Whann’s Raw |
Bone Super Phosphate last year, and used it on my Cotton, j
I am surprised at its results ; it baa far exceeded my cxpec- j
tations. Notwithstanding an uninterrupted drought, I nave j
gathered twelve hundred pounds to the acre so far. and not j
finished yet, where I nsed it The same kind of land, without ;
your Phosphate, produced but five hundred pounds.
I recommend it as the best Guano I hare ever used, and
shall want a huge quantity from you next year. I prefer it
to all others, Pure Peruvian not excepted.
WILLIAM GORHAM.'
LaGrakoe, Troup Co., Ga, November 27,1869.
Jos. S. Beak, Esq.,—
Dear Sir: In reply to your inquiry as to the effects of
Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate, purchased of you last
season, I have to .say: That its yield was better than any
Fertilizer I used. I am fully satisfied with its results, and
recommend it to planters as a No. 1 article. *
I noted that the drought had less effect on Cotton where I
used Whann’s than on other Fertilizers, in the- same field.
I shall use Whann’s largely hereafter.
JOHN H. GLANTON.

Mr. Jos. S. Beak—
Dear Sir: In reply to your inquiry as to the result of
the Whanu’s Raw Bone Soper Phosphate, I - am pleased to
report that it proved itself to be a No. 1 Fertilizer—stood ;
the dronght first rate; and the increase of yield was over one
hundred per cent.
I warmly recommend it to our planters, and shall want a
large quantity in the Spring. Yours, Ac,
JOHN T. BOYKIN.

Mr. Jos. S. Bhan—
Dear Sir: Having purchased of you one ton of Whann’s
* vith
itself the most valuable Fertilizer I
Raw Bone Super Phosphate, I, with much pleasure, inform
ed it ~
you that it has proved itself the most valuable Fertilizer I i
hare ever used, and regret not luuriug .purchased a larger i
quantity from you. .1 picked five hundred pounds more per ,
acre, on land fertilized with Whanu’s, than on the same kind j
of laud elsewhere. I prefer it to any Guano used by me this j
season, ami I recommend it to planters as an A 1 article.
Very respectfully,
JOS. D. WJ

Jonesboro, Ga., January 24th, 1870.
Messrs. Claghokx, Hebrino A Co., Augusta, Ga.—
Gentlemen:—I take pleasure in saying that the twenty tons ;
of Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate that I bought of you ;
last year and used on Cotton- and Corn gave me great satis- \
faction. I am satisfied that it paid at least one hundred per i
cent profit. Some of it was used by the side of other first
class Fertilizers, aud it proved itself to be far superior to them. ■
I have uo hesitation in saying that it is' the best Fertilizer .
that has ever been used in my neighborhood.
J. M. AUSTIN. i
LaGbasob. Tboup Co, Ga, November 10,1869.
Mr. Jos. S. Bbak—
Dear Sir: It affords me pleasure to report that the
Whann's Raw Bone Super Phosphate sold me last year
by you was a fine article. I am much pleased with its
results; and it proved a No. 1 Fertilizer.
To any one wno wants to raise a large crop of Cotton on a
few acres, I unhesitatingly recommend to him the use of your
Guano. Yours, truly,
ROBERT H. MAGRUDER.
LaGrakoe, Troup Co, Ga., October 30,1869.
Mr. Jos. S. Beak—
Dear Sir : You wish to kuow my judgment on 'Whann’s
'Raw Bone Super Phosphate, introduced hero last year by
you, some of which I used.
I do not expect ever to use any preparation that will excel
it as a producer of Cotton. It is aa good as any Fertilizer
can be; and I hope I will bo able to get from you all wanted
next Spring. My opinion is, that if we had not have had a
drought I would have made a bale to the acre where it was
used; and the yield did not fall far below that.
I have seen fields where four other kinds of -favorite Guanos
were used, and your Whann’s far excelled any of them in
production. Yours, respectfully,
B. T. COX.
LaGrakoe, Troup Co, Ga, November l t 1869.
Mr. Jos. S. Beak—
Dear Sir.: In reply to your inquiry as to mV experience
with Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate, purchased of you
last year, I report that I am fully satisfied with its yield, and
recommend it as a safe investment. Yours, truly,
J. W. McGEE.
LaGrakok, Troup Co, Ga, November 15, 1869.
Mr. Jos. S. Beak—
Dear Sir: The Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate
furnished mo by you was entirely satisfactory, both as to the
purity of the article and its value as a Fertiliser. I applied
it both to Corn and Cotton. The effect was obvious to every
eye. I put in the Fertilizer on the 15th of May, and planted
Cotton the last of May, on lands that wojild bring from two
to two hnndred and fifty pounds per acre. On this land,
with its use, I gathered about seven hundred ponnds per
acre.
My Corn land, without it, ordinarily would yield from
twenty to twenty-five bnshels per acre; by using Whann’s
I ‘gathered forty-seven bushels per acre.
I had but ono rain on either Corn or Colton land daring
the whole season.
I heartily recommend the article you offer to every farmer.
I am so well satisfied with my experiment, that I wish to try
it agaiu. Put. me on your list for a quantity.
Yours, truly, Ac,
JOS. H. BURKS.

Messrs. Claqrorx, Hbrriko A Co, Charleston, S. C.—
Gentlemen: Having been called upon by Capt L. R.
Ragsdale, of Timmonsvillo, for a certificate relative to
Whann’s Raw Bone Super Phosphate, I take pleasure in
saying that I have used it the present year, and am well
satisfied with the result. I also used the Peruvian, but
want no other Fertilizer the next year but Whann’s.
Very respectfully,

Messrs. Claohorx, Herring A Co., Charleston, S. C.—
Gentlemen: I have been called upon by Capt. Ragsdale,
of Timmonsville-, for a certificate relating to tne merits of
Whann’s Phosphate, and I take thc-Iiberty to say that it is
decidedly the best' Fertilizer I have ever tried. I used it side
by side with the genuine Peruvian, and I like it much better
than Peruvian, as my Cotton did not rust where Whann’s
was applied; but where the Peruvian was put the Cotton
rusted, and not half a crop was raised. Very truly,
JOHN MIMS.
Tihhohsyille, S. C, December 14, 1869.
Messrs. Claghork, Hbrriko A Co, Charleston, 8. C.— -
Gentlemen: This is to certify that I have used, the past
season, Whann’s Phosphate along by the side of the genuine
Peruvian Guano, and am confident that the former proved to
bo fully as good a Fertilizer as tho latter. In fact, the difference
was not perceptible. I want for the coming season fifteen tons
of Whann’s. H. K. W. FLINN.
Timmonsville, S. C, December 18,1869.
Carr. L. R. Ragsdale, Agent—
Dear Sir: I used one hundred and fifty pounds of Whann’s
Phosphate to the acre, on common land, and, notwithstanding
we had a remarkably dry Summer, say from the first of June
to the last of August, the yield was much better than I could
have expected. My Cotton turned one thousand pounds per
acre; and I think, with favorable seasons, it would have made
fourteen hundred pounds per acre. I wish you to supply me
this incoming year with. Whann’s Phosphate, as I prefer it to
any other Fertilizer. Yours, very respectfully
Air. Thomas R. Penn, of Jasper County, Ga.,
received the first prize—$100 Pitcher. Read
his certificate and statement:
Mokticbllo, Jasper Cocktt, Ga, January 6,1870.
I do hereby certify that I witnessed the weighing of the
seed Cotton raised on 4,924} square yards of upland, by
Thomas R. Penn, upon which Whann’s Raw Bone Super
Phosphate was used, the amount being 2,748 pounds of seed.
Cotton; also, the ginning of 100 pounds of the said Cotton,
making 34} pounds of lint—the wnolc making 942& pounds,
JOHN C. POPE.
I do hereby certify that the said Cotton was the Cotton
that was raised on the above land by me.
THOMAS R. PENN.

Moxticello, Ga, Jaunary 6, 1870.
The land on which this Cotton was planted has been in
regular cultivation for fifteen or sixteen years, without any
rest, on which there never has been any Fertilizer 6r any
other manure used whatever. The land was first broken up
with a scooter plow, then laid off in four feet rows, with
Reynolds’ one-horse plow, followed by a subsoil plow, in
which 451 pounds of Whann’s Raw Bone Phosphate was
deposited, on 4,924}' square yards. The rows were thrown
up in beds with a common one-horse turning plow, and one
bushel of (Hunt’s) select seed of (Hancock County) planted. .
The seed was planted the 26th day of April, with the Dow
Law Cotton Seed Planter. The after culture was done with
the hoe and (David Dickson’s) sweep. The season was
favorable until the 15th day of June, after which there was
no more rain during the Summer, except some light sprinkles
that did not wet the land half an inch. If the season had
continued this Cotton would have made one third more. The
number of pounds of seed Cotton was 2,748.
THOMAS R. PENN.
I do certify that the above statement it correct.
W. C. PENN.

Messrs. Claghork, Hrrkihg A Co—
Dear Sire: On the crop of 1869- I used ten tons of
Whann’s Super Phosphate; I used several other standard
Fertilizers. All did well. I thought Whann’s did the best,
and, as a consequence, hare ordered fifty tons for the next
crop. Yours, Very Truly, •

greatest amount of satisfaction. I intend using, the present
year, nothing but Whann’s as a Fertilizer.
Very respectfully,
THOS. J. WILSON.
