—On so important a matter, it seems
to us, the people of Georgia have the
right to be represented as they wish.
As Mr. Hill now stands, he certainly
does not represent bis people. The
matter will soon be brought to a test
iu the senate. Mr. Hill has already
made statements as to his position. If
he adheres to this position in his vote,
he will go contrary to what ninety-nine

this? Does he think he can faithfully

Editort Con?litutivn I’i the late elec

over her calumniators. A majority of
44,000 vindicated her prog'e.-sivcness,
her public spirit, aud her fidelity to all
her pledges. This maj ority was not a
democratic majority, nor a republican
majority, but a majority of the people
of Georgia without regard to party al

the capital question was not made a
party question. Democrats and repub

How untimely then are the efforts of
those who are seeking to m:>ke the

their preferet ces on the capital ques

So uniform has this custom been that a

amounts to downright condemnation.
In the case of the two gentlemen named
the reason for observing this custom
applies with unusual force because by
the action of tne constitutional conven
