. 0 The Daily News and Herald. UTiHVAH, FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 18M. AN INDIGNANT BMOMSTBAKCE FROM AN OVEHCHARGED Obi maker* of gas refleot, What rates you on us levy; It surely oannst be correct. Our “light’' should come so “heavy." Blame not my verses if they halt. Or rhymes not quits comple are; You ought to know how oft a fault Will happen to the “metre.” Bylaw just ten per cent, your gains; Yon find it better answers At twice that sum to fill your mains; You look to the main chance, sirs. By artful tricks you dodge Ihe Act Which should be your reliever Your gas tricks anger me—in fact; I’m in a gas-trick fever. Give us cheap gas 1 you'll find it pays, And well (I'm certain quite of it ;) Gas is no trifle now-a-days. Although we all make light of it. Gentlemen.-—Having stated It verbally to you, I have no hesitation in writing the fact, that I experi enced marked benefit from your Hoofland’s German Bitters. During a long ana tedioas session of Con gress, pressing and onerous duties nearly prostrated me. A kind friend suggested the use of the prepam- tion I have named. I took his advice, and the result was improvement of health, renewed energy, and that particular relief 1 so much needed and ohtaine 1 Others may be similarly advantaged. If they desire to be. Your Hooflland’s German Bitters were recommended by persons who had tried them, and whose favorable mention of the Bitters in duced me also to try them. I must confess that 1 had- ah aversion to patent medicines, from the “thousand and one" quack “Bittere,” whose only aim seems to oe to palm off sweetened and dragged liquor upon the community, in a sly way; and the tendency of which, I fear, is to make many a confirmed drunkard.
