About lob bales have been Bold. Holders seem willing to sell at the present prices. The ac tivity has advanced the price a fraction, notwithstand ing the heavy decline in the European market advices, on the 13th, of 2 pence. We quote to-day: Poor Ordinary 20c Ordinary ...22c Good Ordinary (T 24c Middling 2oc Strict Middling 28c It will be seen by these quotations that this market compares favorably with other muikete. Indeed it is much better than Nashville markets, which, on yester day, was 26c on Strict Middling grades. Corn.—Largo atocks on hand and have been received this week. About twenty car loads were sold yester- . day, besides a large number of smaller lots. The i trade being very active, the prices are stiffer. We i heard of several lots of yellow being sold at $119, but do not deem those sales a fair exponent of the market price. We quote Prime White at $1 25; Good Yellow at $1 20. ThiB is lower than the same Corn can be bought at in Louisville and laid down here. Charleston Market. - Charleston, April 27. Cotton—We have to report a week of great depres sion in Cotton. The receipts ot the week amount to about 269 bales of Sea Island, 2,999 bales of Upland Colton. The sales of the week foot np some 1,300 bales, the market having declined about 3c 13 lb from the prices prevailing a week ago. Yesterday the mar ket was very unsettled, with sales of about 300 bales at 26c for Low Ordinary; 31c for Middling; and 32 to 33c lb for Strict Middling Cotton.
