Loss of the Norwegian Bark Aqaillo— Vessel and Cargo Probably Lost. We learn that the vessel ^reported in our issue of Monday lost, as being ashore on the breakers near Doboy, is the Norwegian bark Aquilla, from Doboy for London, laden with a cargo of Timber. The Aquilla loft Doboy on the 1st inst. in tow of a steamer, and after proceeding the distance vessels are generally towed, had made sail, and was getting ready to part with the steamer when the hawser broke, and before she could get steerage way on she went ashore on the North breakers about seven miles below Doboy. A portion of lAr cargo was thrown overboard for the purpose of lightering, and overy available means was tried to get her off; but the wind shifting and blow ing a strong gale from the southward, the more the veasel waa lightered the higher up she was blown on the breakers. The vessel, with the cargo, will proba bly be a total loss. Since the above was in type the steamer H. M. Cool hat arrived. From Mr. Charles Domm, we learn that the efforts of the steamer H. M. Cool, tug C. T. Shep pard, and Dpited States revenue cutter Nansemond, to haul her eff the breakers proved fruitless. The vessel and drgo are fully insured in London and Nor way. The board of Port Wardens for the port of Da rien held a survey on the vessel and condemned her. Miniature Almanac—This Day. Son rise* . j 12 Sun sets g gg HIGH WATER. I .*.Piuvros street Sewer.—The work on this Iivto commenced a low days since, and is being I .W forward rapidly by competent mechanics and I I : '■ ice of laborers. Tiio Sewer is to extend from street lane, up Drayton to Perry street lane, Meeting; of the Board or Health. The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held last evening : The special Ward Committees made their reports, showing that a few nuisances still existed in various quarters of the city, but the number appears to have diminished very considerably, owing doubtless to the vigilance of the officers of the Board. Mr. Jas. Stewart tendered his resignation as Secre tary oi the Board on account of a press of duties as clerk of Council. A resolution was adopted, however, requesting him to withdrawdiis resignation. The at tention of the Board was called to the dangeroua prac tice of depositing dead animals along the Thunderbolt Boad, especially opposite the Jones place; the air was polluted with the stench arising from these de posits. A resolution was adopted to request the Mayor to have policemen stationed in that locality day and night to prevent parties from depositing the carcasses of dead animals and other offal along the road. The President read a communication from tii e Mayor, stating that a map of the city an^nvirons had been made by the Confederate engineers, which was now in posse ssion of the authorities at Washing ton, and that a request had been made for its return which would undoubtedly be eompliod with at once. On motion, it was resolved that one barrel of lime be deposited with each member of tho Board for dis tribution in his ward. Mr. Bonaud, with the permission of the Board, made a statement that tenement No. 6, Calhoun Ward, (his own property,) was overcrowded, and that ‘ ‘everything was going wrong, ■ • and lie wished to caU the attention of the Board to it. Dr. Waring, of the Committee on Poudrette, stated that the plap of cleaning privies of the city suggested in the 1 esoiutionB appended to the report read at the last meeting had met with very general favor among the citizens, and he moved their immediate adoption and enforcement. The resolutions were then taken up and passed. They make it incumbent upon the members ot the Board to inspect privies; recommend to Council the passing of an ordinance requiring all privies hereafter cleansed to be rebuilt upon an im* proved plan, and their owners or users to keep them purified with lime, and that they bo emptied ouly by licensed scavengers. Dr. Waring, as Chairman of the Committee on Sewerage and Drainage, also stated to the Board that preliminary steps for a general sewarage of the coun try around tho city have been commenced by an ef ficient corps of engineers. We are glad to soe thiB matter has fallen into tho hands of efficient and practical gentlemen. Tho im portance to the health of .the city of a thorough drain age of the country around cannot be too much urged or kept before the public. Long neglect has ruined tho already imperfect ditches and drains, and a city surrounded by swamps of stagnaut water is sure to receive the reward of its indolence and neglect in the form of bilious congestion, yellow fevers and nauseam . Accounted For.—Persons of au inquiring turn of mind have been at a loss, for some time past, to know who the lucky individuals woro who have been making largo fortunes in tho sale of fire-arms to fraedmou. Curiosity lias been aroused irum noticing the large number of revolvers forfeited at the Mayor's Court, and the large, number still in possession of the ne- gioes about the streets. Some light was thrown upon the matter, however, yesterday by a small colored boy who was brought before the Mayor for drawing a pis- tol on another boy. On his being interrogated by His will connect with th e sewer already in-opera- ; Honor as to where he obtained his pistol, he replied, 1 “at the blacksmith shop."
