I SBC. 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen
of the city of Savannah, in council assembled, and
it is hereby ordained by the authority of the same.
That from and aftdr the passage of this ordiuauce^
the work of the Scavenger Department shall no .
longer be given out by contract, but shall be carried! t-
on under fhe direction cl a superintendent elected
by Council, and the whole expense of the same shall
be borne directly by the corporation.
Sec. *. Be lt further ordained by the authority
* aforesaid, That the City Qoundi, at its next regular
meeting of Coniicil. in January of every year there
after, shall glq$t a superintendent, whose- salary
shall be per annum, aid who shall execute
a bond-to the city, with good kecuriiy. in Hie sum of
