TEST OF TEMPORAL BLESSINGS, the
for this potest and agreeable Vegeta
*ble TONIC and ALTERATIVE has
been immensely Increased.
Not only In this conntry, bat In all other lands to
which commerce bears our flag, the pecnliar merits
of the article are known and appreciated. It has
been found stilted to all climates, all localities, and
the needs of every class of society. Compounded of
the pnrdst vegetable Ingredients, unalloyed with any
mineral salt or Corrosive vegetable alkaloid, and com
bining the properties of a WHOLESOME STO
MACHIC, auGBNTLE LAXATIVE, sad an efficient
ANTI-BILIOUS AGENT, It is endorsed by practica
Chemists as the safest, and by unprejudiced physi
cians as the sorest Preventative, Regulating and
Bestorative Preparation oijhesge.
The nature or Its compoMnts is the guarantee i f
its harmlessness. It cooflkta of the stimulating prin
ciple of sound Rye, madefied with the finest tonic,
anti-febrile, aperient, anti-scorbutic, and snti-spas-
mod'lc herbs, roots aud barks that botanical research
has yet developed for the use of man. Every vegeta
ble substance that enters into Its composition Is
called and selected with scrupulous care, and no;
thing that 1b not sound and perfect of lti kind is used
In Its manufacture.
In the factory at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a sys- (
tem of inspection far more thorough than that !
adopted-by Government authority, as a test or the
quality of the great staples of life, ia rigorously prac- j
tlsed. Every barrel of the cereal stimnlant which i
forms the basis of the Bitters Is ascertained to he ab j
solutely pure before it is received into the mnnufac- i
turing department, and every leaf and fibre of the !
medicating ingredients scrutinized before tbe process j
of Infusion commences. Such Is the enormous ca- !
parity of the tanks in which the Bitters are prepare.! j
that the proprietors are enabled to keep a large stock
on hand, and to snppiy the domestic and foreign 1
market with an article matured and mellowed by
time. Hence the fiery and biting flavor which at- !
taches to ordinary bitters, and which is due to their 1
newness and the inferior quality of the drugs and
alcohol of which they are concocted, is never per
ceived in this mlhl and agreeable preparation. Ac
cording to the testimony of able chemists, the es
sence of good Rye Ls the most healthful of nil spirits,

To Dyspeptic Sufferers.
Under the general head of Dyspepsia may be classed
ail the varieties of indigestion. Its symptoms are
■b various, and differ so mnch in different individuals
that It Is almost Impossible to classify them/ In fact,
some of them are utterly Indescribable, it may be
safely asserted, however, that half the diseases of
mankind spring from a disordered condition of the

Lathrop A Oo, LaRoehe, W A D. J C Maker A-Cu, M, are flatulence, a bloated and fall feeling about the
t Stork* stomach and abdomen Immediately after eating, a
- gnawing sensation or a sense of hollowness at the
pit of tbe stomach between meals, a heavy dull feel
ing In the head, feeble or unsteady appetite, occa
sional nausea, restlessness daring night and a weary,
unrefreshed feeling on rising In the morning, palpita
tion of the heart, depression of mind, sometimes
amounting to monomania, loss or memory, confu
sion of thought, soar stomach, with raising of rood,
and a choking sensation in the throat, dimness of
eye, pain in the diaphragm, feebleness and disincli
nation for exertion, and sometimes emaciation and a
corpsc-like pallor. These arc a lew of the direct
signs of Dyspepsia, bat as it Is generally complicated
with specific affections of the bowels, the liver and !
the nerves, Its victims have many additional torment-. ^
j which are technically attrlhnred to other causes.
The best advice that can be given to any one who j
has the slightest predisposition to Dyspepsia, is to for ■
tify his or her digestive organa by the daily nsc of fit I
Hostetter’s Bitters. i
!
The disease proceeds from a lack of vigor in the:
Htomacta, and this vitalizing preparation will tone j
and renovate that organ. If the gastric apparatus is j
In good working order, and can perfectly dissolve j
and thoroughly assimilate the food submitted to*ltf» j
operation, there will be no Dyspepsia. If It cannot |
do this, it requires reinforcement, and tbe best of all •
reinforcing agents should bo forthwith resorted to. ,
The stomach la the commissariat of the system. It I
supplies the elements of life to the whole body. In
it is prepared the material of blood, muscle, hone
and fibre, and if it fails to purvey that material in
quantity, and of a proper kind, the whole body suf
fers, and with it the mt ntal faculties. Therefore pro
tect the commissariat department* Don't Je.L tlui en
emy obtain possession of It. It is easier to prevent
disease from getting into an organ than to expel it
after it becomes a chronic fixture. Consider the
first indication of uneasiness in the stomach as a
sign that Dyspepsia is preparing to attack, and baffle
it at once with the GBRAT REPBLLANT.
But if it is too late to prevent, remember that it is
not too late to cure. It Is believed that there is no
case of Chronic Indigestion that can withstand the
remedial operation of
London Market.
FROM MESSRS. KEITH 4 CO.’S WEEKLY CIRCU
LAR.—Per “Africa."
Langburn Chambers. 16 y z Fenchurch street,
London, July 7, 1866.
The sudden and unexpected announcement of the
“Moniteur,’’ on Thursday morning, that the Emperor
of Austria had ceded Venice to the Emperor of the
French and asked his mediation for an armistice, pro
duced an equally surprising excitement both.on the
Continental and the Home Bouraes. Foreignatocks
leaped rapidly up, and the stock Exchange waa rejoic
ing in the visions of a profitable harvest. Italian
stocks led the wav with 13 ^ cent, advance, Austrian,
'Turkish, American, and even Mexican followed. The
fluctuation a in some stocks have been incessant, and
orders, to an enormous amount, have been given to
buy on both English aud foreign account. A reaction,
however, set in before the close, and prices dropped at
from ^ to 2 ^ cent from the highest point of tne day.
For the moment the Bank was forgotten; bat the
rumor that the forthcoming return would be unfavor
able, the buoyancy was speedily moderated, under
which feeling the market for the day closed. The ar
mistice, however, has not &9 yet been officially de
clared; but It is hoped that the endeavors now on foot
for the restoration of peace may be successful. Ameri
can securities have been in active demand during the
week, and very large transactions have occurred.
Five-twenties closed yesterday with an advance of 2%
cent, on the week; Eries, 1 ^ cent Illinois have
fallen 3>^ t* cent., and other American railroads show
& decline on the week.
Cotton.—The Liverpool market was quiet in the
early part of the weA, but on Wednesday the demand
increased, which was continued the next day, on tbe
effect'of the peace news, with great activity; sales reach
ing 2,500 bales for Thursday with an advance o( Id.
fls. The week closes firmly with demand for exporta
tion and speculation—prices remaining >^d. to Id.
ft. over last quotations. Sales for the week reach
87,8(0 bales, of which 8,630 on speculation, 14,360 for
export, 64,850 to the tndo. Stock on hand, 955,019
bales. Quotations for middling, 14. Mobile 14J£. Or
leans, Hy. Egyptian, 19. The sales on yesterday
wars 20,000 bales, including 10,000 on speculation and
for export The Manchester has improved for both
yarn and cloth.
Naval Stobes—Are particularly quiet, especially
rosin, which has been almost without sale, prices
nominally 5s.6d. to 29s. Spirits turpentine, under
effect of heavy arrivals, is easier; French is offered at
40s., and American at 42s.

Thls beltef Is grounded on twelve years’ experience
of the efficacy of the preparation. The first instance
of its failure to givefaUef Is yet uuchronleled. M it
ever bad foiled, the voluminous correspondence ail.
dressed to tbe proprietors from all parts of tbe United
States and 8onth America, would at least include
one letter expressing dissatisfaction. Bnt no, there
ls not one. The testimony, extending over a period
or more than a dozen years, is all of the approving
tenor. Certainly this ls a aaflleieDf warrant for
claiming that the BITTERS are a SPECIFIC FOR
INDIGESTION IN ALL ITS VARIETIES.

AB A
Household Medicine.
It Is a great fallacy to suppose that the nauseons-
ness of a medicine is nay proor of Its value *• a res
torative. Tbe troth Is, that If the palate revolts
against a remedy, It cannot do moch good.
HOSTETTER’S* BITTERS
Are not nopleaaant to the taste, and always soothe
and qnlet, instead of irritating tha atomact, indeed
they are the beat known preventative of and cure for
nausea. Their usefulness as a fondly specific can
scarcely be overrated. For sickness at the stomach,
sudden spasms, wind colic, hysterica, ner’.ons head
ache, lassitude, low spirits, and tbe thousand and
one little ailments that are continually n,'earring in
every (kmfly, there is nothing comparable to them. A-
whole medicine chest full of tinctures, essences, pow
ders, anil pills, is not worth a single bottle of the
BITTERS In such cases.
Caution.
the government indorsement.
In order to guard against dangerous impositions,
tho public arc requested to take especial note of the
besattthlly engraved proprietary stomp, through
which the Government of the United States officially
authenticates every bottle of Hoy tier’s Bitters.—
This shield, thrown by the Goveidteaat Over the pro
prietors and tnc public for their jffint protection, is
placed copsplcnoosly across the cork and over the
neck of each bottle, and cannot foil to strike tha eye
of tbe most canal observer,^nothing that purports
to b* Hostetter’s Bitters con be genuine unless fee
stamp ls there
It is also proper to state that the Bitters are sold
exclusively In gloss, and never, under any circum
stances by the gallon -or barrel. Impoetora and

lic have against them ls to see that the Bitters they
