t Baltlai Ducks.
Geo. Anderson, a negro, was arrested early yester
day morning charged with stealing a dock under the
bluff, on scientific principles. A negro, who was a
witness f>[ the transaction, stated that he saw Ander
son 'watching a flock of ducks attentively for a few
momenta, when all of a sudden an idea struck him
and he went off, but returned shortly and commenced
to throw com to them. Happening to drop aeveral
grains neat Ilia feet, one of the docks encroached too
near upon him, and for attempting to take such liber
ties he immediately stooped down and picked itap
by the neck and put it under his coat. The negro
who witnessed the proceedings immediately informed
the owner, a lad about twelve years of sge, son of A,
L. DeLorge, who immediately went in pursuit of the
thief, who was making a bee-line for the market
with the duck in his hands, having taken it from
under his coat when he got up the bluff. Young
DeLorge procured the services of another small boy,
and when they overtook the thief DeLorge's assistant
grabbed the duck from his hands while DeDorge held
him by the coat tail untt'. they procured the assistance
of a policeman, who took the negro in charge and con
veyed him to the police barracks.
On being brought before the Mayor, DeLorge, with
tears In his eyes, said that the negro had stolen his
‘‘biggest drake duck.” The negro, seeing no chance
for even a lame excuse, acknowledged the theft and
was fined ten dollars, or to be placed in the chain
gang for thirty days.

In tile Wrong Home.
Four seamen belonging to the Steamship City Of
Bath, who were directed to go to a boarding house on
Bay street, on Saturday night, after the arrival of the
ship from Boston, for the purpose of obtaining sleep
ing accommodations, entered the house of William
Dunn, and managed to break his bed room door in.
Mr. Dunn , who was lying on a couch on his back pi
ta' 1 dealers throughout the country i azza, managed to get hold of a billy, with which he
sual small stocks on hand, owing to the un- j belabored one of the party over the'head. The police,

the trio to the police [barracks. On bring brought
before the Mayor yesterday, the prisoner^ stated that
they were a little under the influence of liquor and
mistook the house for one t close by, in which they
t to lodge. They attributed the breaking in of the
bed room door to the fact, that one of the party at
tempted to go up stairs, thinking he was in the right
bouse, but being unable to navigation account of
strong head winds, he hove too, and came about, and
in doing so, ran afoul of the door, which gave away.
His Honor on hearing the testimony, and finding no
i ntention on the part of the men to commit any vio
lence, or creating any disturbance, the wttois affair
being through ignorance, the prisoners were dis
charged upon payment of costs.

Dn> not Lose Theib Passage.—It having been
stated that “several persons missed their passage" to
New York on “Saturday last,” in consequence of the
News and Herald advertising the tug to leave for the
steamship Missouri on Sunday, we are informed by
the^agent, Mr. B. H. Hardee, that the advertisement,
as it appeared in the News and Herald, was correct*
and, furthermore, no person lost their passage by
the Missouri, as every one who held tickets for the
passage left on the ship.

Messrs. J. R Barrett A Co:
I was Induced by a friend to make a trial of Bar

much pteised with the effect it has hail on my hair.
I was nearly half gray, and now, before using one
