pedestriana, who may feel inclined, this warm wea

ing their way along Bay street. This singular loafc-
ing structure is about eight feet in height, four feet in
width, ten feet in length, and is decorated oh the in-
terior with old newspapers, which are pasted against
the wall with queer taste. You are alieltered while
standing on the outside partaking of pour beverage,
by a window, which is hoisted up like a trap-door, and
is propped by a piece of wood, and answers all the pur
poses of an umbrella. We are afraid Council will have
to take some action in regard to the construction of
this primitive looking concern, as it comes in conflict
with the fire ordinance, which requires all wooden
buildings erected to be covered with a tin, slate or
tile roof.

The Board of Health.
This body met last evening, and there being no busi
ness of importance before it, remained in session but
a short time. The reports frpm the different wards
show that the entire city is in excellent sanitary con
dition, and unprecedentedly healthy. The number of
interments for the week ending July 30th is nineteen
—four whites and fifteen colored.
A communication was received from His Honor the
Mayor, stating that the slaughter houae, which had
been reported as a nuisance, will be removed forth
with.
Supplies foe Frying Pan Lioht Ship.—The United
States light house supply schooner Chase, Capt. Perry,
from Charleston, -arrived here yesterday. The Cbtae
is taking in supplies and will leave to-day for the light
ship off Frying Pan Shoals, the commuder and crew
of which are reported to have been out of provisions
for some time.
From Baltimore.—The steamship Fannie, Captain
Smoot, from Baltimoro. arrived here at an early hour
yesterday morning. We are again indebted to Mr,
Kenuolds, the gentlemanly aud accommodating pur
ser of the Fannie, for files of late Baltimore papers.
The particular attention of the public is called to
the advertisement of the City Treasurer addressed to
delinquent Tax payers.
A dispatch to Messrs. Hunter A (Jaminell, from
Philadelphia, dated yesterday, saya - The Tonawsnda

FEVER AND AGUE EXTINGUISHED.
Martyr9 to Intermittent Fever, a word with you. The
responsibility for your suffering rests upon your
selves. Just as surely as you shake to-day. or will
gjifiKe to-morrow, HOSTETTER'S CELEBRATED
STOMACH BITTERS will extinguish the disease un
der which you labor. Had jW taken this gc-nlai
tonic as a preventive! you would have no need o. it
as a cure, fo r it renders the system impervious t', all
miasmatic fevers. But since you neglected the pre
caution, rid yourselves without delay of the com
plaint by resorting to the only reliable remedy.—
Break the chills witli HOSTETTER'S BITTERS, and
they will retnm no more. This is the experience e( ;
thousands, and it will be yours. Quinine is a aRftff,
means of relief; it is nauseous to the last degree;-if
is more dangerous than the malady itself; In many
casee It utterly fails. How different is the effect of
the BRTBKS. Tlieir curative action is rapid; they are
agreeable to the palate; they are not only entiroly
harmless, but tend inevitably to strengthen the con
stitution and prolong life; they never have failed, and
it Is confidently assumed that they never can fail in
any case of Fever and Ague, however inveterate in
Us character. To be without Hostetter’S Bitters in
any region infested with Intermittent or fiemtttent
Fever is Simply to reject safety and court disease;

Testimony from tlie Capital qf the United States.
Messrs. Barrett A Co;
I was Induced to give yonr Hair preparation a trial,
and can heartily reeommend it as unequalled as a
Dressing, Purifier aud Restorer,—giving to the Hair
a mxuriant richness, and to tlie head a cool and
moet agreeable sensation, while it 19 thorough in re
storing the hair to its natural color.
Very respectfully, W. Hamlet.

Messrs. J. B. Barrett St Co ;
I was Induced bv a friend to make a trial of Bar
rett’s Vegetable Hair Restorative, and I am very
mneh pleased with the t ffect it has had on my hair.
I was nearly half gray, and now, before using one
bottle, my head is treed from dandruff, and my hair
has all the appearance of youth. I tally .believe Bar
rett’s to be the best hair preparation in the world.
