SAVANNAH, SATURDAY, AUGtJST 4, 1866.
A Child’s Wish.
On her grave stone these words were carved: “I
Higher."—Sural yew Yorker.
When the sunlight fell with radiant glory
Over her little bed.
And the wind, with gentle fingers, moved
The tresses on her head, * .
With fainter voice she whispered, while
The angel wings drew niglier,
And lovings ones had hushed their sobs—
“Oh, Father, lift me high*:’”
But her dim eight looked yet further
Than our weeping eyes could see.
Far beyond the land of sunsets,
Into Immortality.
She heeded not the cafetnson mist
That crowned the hills with fire,
But only breathed, in gentle tones,
“Dear Father, lift me higher."
Yet while she spoke the color died
From out the evening sky.
And twilight, clad in ashy robes,
* Passed alow and silent by;
And Death had shut the door of Life, '
Smitten the golden lyne,
And answered the ayeet childish wish,
But to be “lifted higher."
Father, we thank Thee! for the child
Treads now the eternal hills—
Her footsteps falter not beside
The ever-flowing rills.
Lifted above all grief and care,
From trials borne away,
She has oxchanged the twilight gloom
For never-ending day.

Gentlemen:—I have recently been laboring under
tbe distressing effects of indigestion, aocompanied by
a prostration of thenervous system. Numerous rem

tested, but without relief. Yonr HouJUand'e German

them, and whose favorable mention of the Bitters in
duced me also* to try them. I must confess that 1 had
an aversion to patent medicines, from the ‘thousand
