Messrs. Barrett ft Co :
I was induced to give your Hair preparation a trial,
and can heartily recommend it as unequalled as a
Dressing. Purifier and Restorer,—giving to the Hair
a luxuriant richness, and to the head a cool and
most agreeable sensation, while it is thoroagh ln re-

Messrs. J. R Barrett ft Co :
I was induced by a friend to mak* a trial of Bar
rett’s Vegetable Hair Restorative, and I am very
much pleased with the effect It has had on my hair.
I was nearly half gray, and now, before using one
bottle, my head is freed from dandruff; and my hair
has all the aupesrance of youth. I fully believe Bar
rett’s to be the best hair preparation in the world.

IRON SCREW!
FOR
Packing Cotton.
T he attention of cotton planters is
invited to tbe claims of this invention, which, ln
SIMPLICITY. ECONOMY, DURABILITY and POW
ER, surpasses any nmehlnc for Baling Cotton eter
before presented to the country. Us great excel
lence In these respects makes It
THE BEST MACHINE
FOE PACKING COTTON
IN THE WORLD !
1. ITS SIMPLICITY.—it Is a new and improved
application of the Screw Power; just as simple ln its
construction as the old fashioned wooden screw, as
easily managed, and no more liable ta get ont of or
der. No ropes or pnlliea as seed in the cotton
presses.
2. ITS ECONOMY.—It has been demonstrated by
aotoal experiment to be cheaper than the wooden
screw. The timbers used in its construction are
much smaller and fewer than those employed in tbe
old screw; the levers being only 16 feet long, and the
helghtof the Whole frame above the bed being only
10 rest. AU these timbers can be procured on tbe
plantation, no matter how exhausted the forest. Any
ordinary wood workman can build the frame, and
half a lloxan bands will pnt it up in a few horns.
8. ITS DURABILITY.—The Screw and Nat are of
Iron, and wm taw for years without any appreciable
wear. The whole machlnAodeopieh so little space
long, one mule is sufficient for packing the heariest
bales. Planters who have used it say that, with two
mules, cotton may be compressed on this machine
for shipment.
This Screw was invented jnst before the opening of
the war, aad has subsequently never been very gen
erally Introduced. Thoee who have used it aud seen
It csed, unanimously concur ln the opinion that It la
tSRITALLED AS A COTT05 SCREW.
The following testimonials from some of the best
and most reputable planters In tbe country show the
estimate ln which this Screw stands with those who

FLORENCE
SEWING MACHINES!
WE, HATING been appointed General Agents for
Georgia and Florida, are now prepared to exhibit
every style of the above Machines. See circular
below.
Circular.
We claim for tbe Flobence the following advan
tages over any and all Sewing Machines:
IV It makes fonr different stitches, the lock, knot,
double lock, and double knot, on one and the same
machine. Each stitch being alike on both aides of
the fabric.
!Sr Every Machine has the reversible feed morion,
which enables tbe operator, by simply tnrning a
thumb screw, to hast the work ran either to the
right or left, to stay any part of the seam, or fasten
the ends of seams, without taming the fabric.
The only Hacb'ne having a self adjusting
shuttle tension—the amount of tension always being
in exact proportion to tbe size or tbe bobbin.
tv* Changing the length of stitch, and from one
kind of stitch to another, can readily be done while
the Machine is in motion.
EW The needle )• easily adjusted.
EW It ia almost noiseless, and can be used where
quiet Is necessary.
IV Its motions are all positive; there are no
springs to get ont of order, and its simplicity enables
the most Inexperienced to operate it.
■V It does not require finer thread on the trader
than for the upper side, and wtu sew across the
heaviest seams, or from one to more thicknesses of
cloth, without change of needle, tension, or break-
ing thread.
fW~ The Hemmer Is easily adjusted and will tnm
any width of hem desired.
EW No other Machine will do so great a range of
work as theWlnfence. -
*W It will hem, fell, bind, gather, braid, qnUt.
and gather and sew on a ruffle at the same time,
The taking up iff He slack thread is not perforated
by the irregnlar cwrti^ction or asi'e coil or naeer-
tain operation of wire levers. The precision anff Bft
curacy with which the Florence draws the thread
into the clotb ia un approached in any Sewing Ma
chine hitherto ottered in the market.
We furnish each Machine with “BarnndR Self-
Sewer,” which guides the work itself, and la of in
calculable value, especially to inexperienced opera
tors.
EW It is folly protected and licensed by Elias
Howe, Jr., and his associates, and onr’own Letters
Patent.
While possessing the above, and manmpther *d-
vantsges, the Florence is add at corresponding prices
with other first class Machines, and a carefnl exami
nation wUl folly substantiate all that we have claimed
for it, and Justify the assertion we now ms^a that
ills the best Sewing Machine in the world.
We warrant eveff Machine to be all that we claim
for it, and will glvoftJOrritten warranty it required.
