Y.) Union proposes that Fred. Douglass, the colored Republican stumper, be given the unanimous Radical nomination for Congress in that district. —During the session of the Philadelphia Convention Qeneral M. R. Patrick, a delegate from New York, was piven a cane made rom one of the timbers of the old Independ ence Hall. • —A manufacturer of ordnance at EsseD, in Prussia, is preparing for the French Inter national Exposition next year a steel gun intended to carry a shot weighing 1,250 pounds- • —It is stated that steps have been taken by the Government to stay &U proceedings for the present in the matter of the confisca tion of the late Confederate General Beaure gard's property in the Southern States. —General Grant is reported to have said that Butler stole enough silver ware, while in New Or.eans, to enclose his new residence with a silver railing. This remark could hardly have been provoked by jealousy. —The Louisville Journal says that the prospect of a tremendous corn crop has given an extraordinary impetus to the bog trade, and feeders all over the State are indus triously engaged in buying up stock bogs for fall and winter feeding. —President Johnson does not seem to know what to do with his bale of cotton, given him by the people of Macon, Georgia. Some of his newspaper friends advise him to send it the World’s Exposition, at Paris, where it will no donbt attract a good deal of attention. —The number of divorce cases pending before the Supreme Court of the District of Colombia, in which the petitions have been filed, ia twenty-seven, of which in fifteen adultery is charged, and the remaining twelve, neglect,* cruelty, desertion, etc. —One of the largest bells in the United States has beeD cast for the city of Pitts burgh, Pa. The amount of metal contained in the rough casting is 7,200 pounds. It measures sixty-six inches across the month, and sixty-two inches in height Jo the top of the crown. i K. —Two bottles have been found in the Gulf of Mexico. One contained a slip dated the Flying Eagle, May 24th, i860, stating that ■be was in a hopeless condition, and the other purports to have been sent from the U.
