Dre.mtimc.
Alone 1 watch tfae dying day,
I Me it. ante of orange rating;
And just beyond the raffled bay.
Grey miete of purple bille an Tailing;
Upon the roof weird fingers play,
And all the wind* are full of wailing.
Llfe’a open book before me lies,
And m I turn its leaves back, faintly
The pictures <* the past arise,
Strange forma go by—appareled quaintly;
Sweet TOices whisper, and dear eyes
Shine M of old—divine and saintly.
Once more I hear the gentle rhyme
When falling leaves still waters dimple;
The woods' low murmur and the chime
Of silvery streamlets as they whimple,
And live again the golden time
Of childhood's joys—so pure and simple.
What pretty pebbles paved the creek.
The dear old creek by mulberries shaded I
There the shy frogs played hid&and-seek
Through Hues—with sweet spices laded;
And our wee shadow seem to apeak
From whispering wavelets, as we waded.
What leagues of nectar wooed the bees
To buckwheat hill. and fields of clover I
What twittering birds on blooming trees
Cooed tenderly, and played tbe lover 1
While Time, with odorous breath of ease,
Told the delicious idyl over I
We reckoned then each year again;
Now, they are counted with our losses;
Sharp thorns and thistles givens pain.
Where then we trod Spring's velvet mosses;
Then of our flowery garlands vain.
And now aweary with our crosses.
1 wild flowers yesterday,
nt somehow flowers have lost their sweetness;
Some quail were startled—even they
Seem to have lost their old discreetness,
And only hopped beside the way.
As if they had no need of fleetness.
But when I see the children meet,
Flower laden, from their plays returning;
Cars trampled by their heedless leet,
Their trustful souls all shadow spurning;
Their hearts wild with impatient beat,
And hopes, bright fires within them burning 1

There are as many roads to fame and fortune as
there were gateways to ancient Thebes. Tonr am
bitious warrior Is for carrying his way with the

by intrigue and consummate art. But there is one

I was induced by a friend to mflke a trial of Bar

much pleased with the street it has had on my hair.
I was nearly half gray, and now, before using one
bottle, my head is freed from daodrnff, and my hair
has all the appe trance of yootli. I fully believe Bar
