Jones, John Humphreys and Jack Habersham, and when taken into custody, Jones con fessed the stealing. Michael O’Brien, charged with disorderly conduct, driving in the streets and running his wagon against a lamp-post, was fined five dollars and cost George Grant (colored), charged with keeping a dis orderly house in Robert street Fined twenty dollars. J. Williams (colored), violating city ordinance—fast driving through the streets. The case was continued oo account of the sickness of Ahe policeman* j D. H. Galloway, chimney Contractor, Charged with refusing to swodp a chimney. The case was dia- missed, it having been proven that the n weep waa un able to ascend the chimney on accounbof the flue be ing two small. I/. Jones and Joe Dyer (both colored^ having two. small bales of cotton in their possesion, supposed to have been stolen, were turned over to the County Hasiby Bdgli (colored), fighting in the streets, wan senteucedW the-Police Barracks for five days.
