The inhuman monster was arrested. —An inlant, three weeks old, alive and kicking, was found a day or two ago, by a negro man, in the middle of a road in Au gusta county, where it had been left by its mother. —The Cincinnati Gazette ot Wednesday, says; “A gentleman who has kept a record of the weather informs us that it has ruined, more or less, every day for seventy-two con secutive days.” —The money realized by the Uoited States from the sale of the privateer Shenandoah, at Liverpool, has all been remitted to the Secretary oi the Treasury. It amounts to $78,492, in gold. The remittances were made through the, Barings. —In Ohio, a machine has lately been intro duced by which a well sixteen feet deep, and one inch in diameter may be dup in forty minutes; the machine sinks nn inch pipe. The water thus procured is said to be pure and cool. —A bed is a bundle of paradoxes ; we go to it with reluctance, yet we quit it With regret; we make up ojr minds to leave it early,, but we make up our bodies every morning to keep it late. —The New York Herald publishes further correspondence between Judge-Advocate Holt and S.
